As President of Vibrant Nation, Joe’s focused on making sure we deliver the best information, innovative solutions and world-class service to our customers. Joe is a serial entrepreneur who developed his taste for media as an intern at the Courier Journal and Louisville Times Company, and later as Technical Editor of PCM Magazine and Editorial Director at The Cobb Group.
In 1994, Joe joined IDG Newsletters (a division of International Data Group, the #1 tech media company in the world) where as Publisher, he launched Tipworld: one of the Internet’s first email-focused businesses. Then, in 1998, Joe co-founded Emazing, and grew it into one of the Internet’s largest email-focused companies, delivering more than 100 daily newsletters to more than 13 million unique subscribers. After selling Emazing to Sony, Joe served as a Senior Vice President at Sony Music, and deployed Emazing’s technology to deliver email newsletters for hundreds of recording artists including Ozzy Osbourne and Jennifer Lopez.
In 2004, Joe boomeranged to International Data Group where, as Director of Audience Development, he lead the effort to build the company’s first unified customer database, and was a key member of the team that launched IDG Connect. Three years later, he joined the NYC-based startup First30Days as Chief Operating Officer.
Finally, in 2009, Joe joined advertising agency Doe-Anderson, where he served as Chief Digital Officer for more than six years. At Doe-Anderson, Joe worked with a wide-range of brands including Carrier Home Comfort, kynect (Obamacare in Kentucky), Maker’s Mark, Jim Beam, Knob Creek, Louisville Slugger, Mighty Dog, Optima Batteries, and Triumph Motorcycles.
Joe resides in Louisville with his wife Johanna, two sons, one very smart cat, and one he’s still not quite sure about. He’s an avid cyclist, runner, and guitar collector, and graduated from Bellarmine University with a B.A. in Computer Science.
