Which “Looking Your Best” category really blows women’s budgets?

By June 30, 2017

My mom always said, “If you look good, you feel good” and that seems to ring true with Vibrant Nation women. Women (myself included) want to look good. It gives you a confidence boost that helps you speak up and take control of your day. One’s look is part of who they are as a person and how they are perceived by others. It’s their own personal brand, and it’s no surprise that women want to take care of themselves and splurge a little to make that happen.

So, what DO women splurge on when it comes to looking and feeling great? If you guessed fashion, you’re right!

Survey Says…

  1. Clothing 30%
  2. Hair Care 23%
  3. Tie: Skin Care 13% AND Procedures (Botox, Juvederm, Tucks etc) 13%

Retailers and clothing brands, take notice! Women are spending big money, it is estimated that the average woman (with a life expectancy of 80 years of age) will spend approximately $125,000 in her lifetime on clothing and accessories.

Looking to get your piece of the fashion spend? You have to know what motivates women to buy this accessory or that dress. Does it really surprise you to know that “other women like themselves” are the biggest influence?

While hair care products come in as big splurge category (23%) makeup only garnered 3% of splurges but 13% say they splurge on skin care products. I most definitely see this in everyday life as more and more women are opting for less or even no make-up in exchange for glowing natural skin. And let’s be honest, that glowy “natural” look does not come without a diligent regime that includes pricy moisturizers, scrubs, exfoliators, and serums – not to mention the occasional facial from a professional aesthetician.

Maybe even more interesting is what women aren’t blowing their budget on, nail care. Say what? The only reasonable explanation for this is that women don’t consider a mani/pedi splurge blowing their budget. Or even better – these smart women are including this mini splurge in their budget #smartladies.
