Is there a shampoo for grey hair that will wash your old color back in? Wouldn’t it be much easier if you could simply wash your hair to give it color, instead of using expensive dye? Do we actually have the answers to these questions?

Coloring grey hair

Coloring grey hair is an easy procedure that may be conducted at home, as many women do. Your dream hair color now comes in a box, which comes complete with all the tools needed for the job. But, there are a lot of disadvantages to using chemicals to cover up grey hair. Your hair may become dried out and unhealthy because of chemical treatments, and you need to buy special shampoos and products that are made for colored hair.

Many companies make cosmetic shampoos that are designed to cover up the grey, but they work in a fashion that’s similar to hair dye. Like hair coloring products, many shampoos for grey hair leave color deposits behind to cover up the greys — not get rid of them entirely. Scientists are still discovering the causes of grey hair, and in the future there may be grey hair shampoos that actually do reverse the process that happens in your hair. The same pigments that color grey hair help to color skin, and science is still exploring the pigment breakdown that results in grey hair.

After you shampoo your grey hair, there are natural products you can use that will help to hide and change the color of your grey. Many women know that lemon juice will lighten hair the way it helps to lighten skin (it even helps to polish silver), but some natural products will darken hair if you use it on clean, shampooed grey hair.

Boil potato peels in water for at least 30 minutes. Let the skins stand and cool for approximately 1 hour, then strain out the skins. Use the water as a rinse after you shampoo your grey hair, and it will help to naturally darken your locks. Unlike hair dyes and hair coloring products, even grey hair shampoos that do the same thing, the potato water won’t leave behind a residue or start to color your towels. Potato skins are also naturally rich in vitamins that will improve hair shine and strength.
