Go to Craigslist.com, pick your state/province, then pick your city.  In the upper left side of the home page there is an area called ‘Community’.  You can post something or look for activities and volunteer opportunities.  I use Craigslist a lot!

Here in Texas, you can call 211 (non-emergency information call) and ask about opportunities.

Elementary schools are a great place to volunteer, the teachers will LOVE you! Senior centers are another great place to volunteer.

An EXCELLENT place to find work to make a difference globally and also locally is at idealist.org. Registration is free, and there are hundreds of opportunities of all types posted there.

What are you passionate about? That would be where I would start. Good luck!
