I quit my job last spring, concentrated on school – which I love….I won’t have my degree for almost two years and I am pretty sure my unemployment will run out before then, I am petrified!

Yes scary and serious. My guess is you have a valid concern about finding work and need advice. I am sure there are other VN members who would love to share advice and experience. Recently, I posted a friendly reminder to VN members. To see that reminder click here Please Update Your VN Profile. Your profile does not tell us where you live or job skills/expertise that you may already have or the state where your school is located. Until then, I am sending you a website called HERC Higher Education Recruitment Consortium this website is free has job postings within the private Universities and Colleges system. My thinking is that you can find a job within your College or University or near where you attend classes. The jobs may work well with your skills and class schedule. Click here HERC search by region (state or area you live in). You can also Google HERC in quotations to find your specific state. Also be sure to take advantage of your local State Employment website services are free. Friendly reminder doesn’t underestimate your skills or the value of education you have accomplished. Best to you!

You got unemployment after ‘quitting’ your job? I thought you only got unemployment when you were laid off. I’m retired, so I’m asking out of ignorance. And the reason I ask is, when you’re on unemployment, aren’t you required to be looking for a job? Won’t the places where you apply in the future ask you about this? Just a thought……
Just curious, when you quit your job what plan did you have for getting through this upcoming time financially? First you need to find out how long you will have unemployment benefits… Do you see any options besides going back to work? Do you qualify for financial aid for school? Will you have a degree that is pretty marketable/ pays well ? I wish you the best and can appreciate that it must be scary right now.
