Late Bloomer

I finished college in my late fifties while working hard in a non-profit organization.  As a program director, I feel  my career has been revving up over the past five years while others my age are winding down.  Challenges of new things excite me, however, I feel like I am ON more than off.  Can anyone relate and share some ideas about balance on this side of the time clock?

Hi Nettiefre:  Anyone in management that is really doing the job required of them plus . . . will always fill like they have to be ON.  I completely understand the feeling.  I did it for years as Administrative Management.  I got to the place where being ON wasn’t fun anymore.  As I got to the other side of our time clock I switched back to being staff so I could enjoy actually doing what I was educated to do rather than trying to get the job done through other people.  I don’t think there is any other way except to keep it simple.  Enjoy the ride while you still have the energy to live up to the challenges.  And make sure you do take some OFF time.
