This will be my first year homeschooling my 11 year old. Is it is easier than public school? I need some help. Is there anyone else doing the same thing?

I homeschooled my four children from K-12. It was great fun. If you would like to ask specific questions, please feel free to email me at lclan6@yahoo.com.
FYI, my children are now grown, and two have MA degrees and another is working on his MA. My eldest teaches in a community college.
I homeschooled my oldest son beginning in the 5th grade. He has Tourette’s Syndrome and sitting in a regular classroom when he was younger was nearly impossible. He would spend all day in school and then spend the entire evening doing the work he couldn’t focus on while trying to sit still.
Homeschooling worked well for him because I could adjust what we focused on that day according to how bad his tics were. Fortunately, as his got older, he was gradually able to handle the tics better and beginning in 8th grade went to a local school that combined traditional with homeschooling. He went to school two days a week and worked on assignments at home with me (and eventually by himself) the other three. This actually prepared him very well for college, as that is similar to the model they use.
He is now a in his junior year of college and is doing very well. While there were days that were frustrating, I am convinced that doing what we did enabled him to learn in the manner that was best for him and proved successful in the end. I would do it all again.
