I live in a community that has its own HOA I am its VP. In addition to that we have a Master Board for the common grounds outside our gates but within all the communities. We pay $186.00 per quarter – 260 homes to the Master Board and $42 per month to our own community.
The problem is that we do not share any common land with the Master Board and I have been breaking my head to find out how and who made this contract to entangle us to this Master Board that we just hand money to and does nothing for us. We have hired lawyers and have spoken to experts. The latest i found out is that these HOA’s in Florida are basically a contract between the builder and the City, who hire a lawyer to make these complicated entanglements that nobody can get out of them. It suits the City, we pay real estate taxes as well as take care of the grounds, sidewalks and streets, and everything in between. There was a $1 million beautification project that the Master Board just finished after Wilma and our small community did not get one tree, but we contributed to the beautification project just like the others. I find this unfair and cannot believe that in this great nation of ours we cannot get out of this mess.
Finally last nite via our website’s message board, i congratulated the newcomer President who i think is better equipped to handle this diassociation as he wants to make things right. The outgoing Master Board President and I got into a big tiff. He joined my message to congratulate the new President but slammed on me with insults and stuff that you will not believe. He claims that the rules does not make them give us anything, i claim that maybe so, but the ethical rule do, common decency… if we contribute we should get.
I am the type that i try my best not to attack, but when confronted the menopause comes in full force and i am like a lunatic. I told him off, all this anger i have inside from this injustice just came out. It was fun, i finally got to say my piece and i was not even the instigator. Have any of you been in a similar situation?
