College student at 55

I know there are ladies out there who are thinking about going back to school. Well, I graduate next May with my AA in Education, then I’ll transfer to a 4-year university and finish it up. I’m writing to encourage others of you who might be thinking of starting a degree.

College has been good for me. I’ve worked really hard but unlike previous jobs I’ve had, my hard work has been rewarded. One of my papers became a student example, I was offered a chance to work on an Honors project, plus I won a scholarship for non-traditional students.

All this in just a year and a half of college. So, it can be done! I’ve met so many nice people, who cares if my own kids are older than most of them!

I won a scholarship at age 65 because of what I wrote about my life.  I am a Freshman at 65!

You go girl!  I just wish I had a “buddy” out there, no one is even remotely close to my age, and, although I get along with them just fine, I just sort of wish I had someone to eat lunch with!  But, what the heck! I’m fine. I have plenty of girlfriends my own age, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

What are you going to school for, Alicia?
