does anyone know of any websites that sell career clothes for 50+? What worked at 49, doesn’t work now!

I wear basic black and have scarves, scarves, scarves to change the outfit.
woman within is a good catalog store to get clothes that don’t date you so much. They aren’t trendy, but they have some classical cuts. Classical lines are always in style.
Also, Roamans has some really good women’s suits and suit skirt sets that are fashionable at any age, and not overpriced.
agree consignment shops are good if you don’t mind wearing 2nd hand clothes. you often however are able to find new items. They are also good for purchasing designer bags.
Find one two you like and get on their mailing list for sales
I actually also like Lord and Taylor as well as JC Penny during their sales events; i.e end of season
Eileen Fisher –
on sale at Garnet Hill’s website.
I think finding a good answer will depend on your clothes budget and as well, your body shape/size. My sister in law asked me to shop with her last summer when we were visiting them, and the clothing line I think would work best for her because she’s around a size 14 and thickish in the middle would be Eileen Fisher, because all their clothes are designed for real women’s bodies, comfort and flattering lines – but Eileen’s a bit out of sis-in-law’s budgetary comfort level. Talbott’s has gotten more hip lately and is still mostly classic/safe for business wear, their colors this year won’t clash with their colors next year – something I really like because it’s easier to add to what you already have. Good luck!
J Jill and Territory Ahead are good sites for fashionable career clothes and J Jill has plus sizes and is definitely not as expensive as Eileen Fisher (who is my favorite!). Both offer styles for *women* and are NOT dowdy!
Oh, I forgot – Coldwater Creek is a good possibility as well.
I’m 68 and still working…I have a private psychotherapy practice plus I work for another organization doing inhome mental health care for elderly or shutins. I find reasonable clothing online by looking up my size under fashion/clothing. I’m a plus size so I have to be very careful to downplay certain areas (stomach and rear). I’m short, so long dresses make me look even shorter. It’s still very fashionable to wear suits with a hem to the knee. or slack suits that are either tailored or flow (depending on your body type). Shop the Boutiques, consignment shops, and yard sales/flea markets for trendy accessories. Don’t always wear black…it can make us look formidable. A good hair style and well thought out makeup can update any outfit. Good luck in your search.
