Don’t forget the off shore banking that is not taxed for the wealthy…They make the money here, let them pay tax on all of it here!…TRACK
I agree Track!! The rich have all kinds of loopholes making it possible for them to not pay taxes on what they earn. They reap the benifits of living here, but send their money and our jobs overseas to avoid paying taxes on their money. The rest of us pay taxes on 100% of what we earn.
I will say it once again. Everyone should pay on what they make. Period. Fair would be an equal percentage, close the loopholes, etc. I still don’t believe that the government should be Robin Hood and take from the rich to give to the poor. I’ve had a problem with things like the child tax credit. They get money not even paid in, so therefore it comes from my pocket. Maybe I used to get it too, but I don’t recall getting a $2,000 or $5,000 check from the government when my kids were young.
This stuff is broke. Why can’t we fix it? ♥
I agree. And the rich aren’t paying their fair share. They have huge advantages with all of their loopholes. When you and I were raising our children, we could deduct not only interest on our houses, but interest we paid for everything, cars, credit cards etc. The only interest deductible now is interest on our homes. Or is you have a 2nd home or a home equity loan. And the poor if they are fortunate enough to own a home, definetly dont’ have a second home and probably not a home equity loan. I dont’ understand people trying to defend the rich!! If people don’t care about their own situation (the GOP voted against extending unemployment, and they defend companies sending our jobs overseas) at least they should realize that their are lots of families with children who do not have a job, did not inherit land or a house, do not have a savings to live on. They need the unemployment insurance at least until they do find a job. I have a girlfriend, our generation, who is recovering from breast cancer. Her husband lost his job and was 18 months before he found another. His current job? In Dallas TX, over 1000 miles from where their home is. My friend needs to stay here. This is where her doctor is. this is where her elderly father is. So her husband has a small apartment in Dallas. They hope in a year maybe he can relocate if not here at least closer. they see each other every couple of months but talk daily. they’re not rich. But he did what he needed to do to keep them afloat. It hasnt’ been easy.
TL, I am linking a blog that might be of interest to you. Among other things, it talks about the ‘flat tax’ which sounds like a good thing to you and many others. It’s a good thing for the rich, and is being pushed by the rich. This man gives us a good analysis of why this is not a good thing for the poor and middle class. Why it is not a fair tax.

And one more article about taxes. Why the rich are getting richer and there is a much larger desparity between the rich and the poor and middle classes.
