“The older I get, the more I realize the value of privacy, of cultivating your circle and only letting certain people in. You can be open, honest, and real while still understanding not everyone deserves a seat at the table of your life”. Wow. Quite frankly, this quote blows me away. A very dear person sent this quote to me recently and said “you are invited to my table”. I was overwhelmed with love and gratitude for this special person. The more I have read the quote, the more I get out of it.
I have had and still have some amazing women friends and relatives in my life. They are the ones who got me through a messy divorce and learning how to be single in my 40’s. Laughing as I learned how to dance and celebrate a new chapter in the story of my life. Some even made a pact with my sister not to let me pick out my own clothes anymore. Something about “frumpy” is not in style any more. Very funny. Women who were both single and married who gathered around me in love and aide. I believe their support and love is part of how I evolved into the me I am today.
The more I experience life, the more I embrace the fact that you do get to cultivate your circle. “Not everyone deserves a seat at the table of your life”. Whoa. That is big, right? It makes me feel empowered in a way I never expected. Have you thought about who deserves a seat at your table?
