Short Story Competition: January 2010

Take a time-out from working on your NaNoWriMo novel and register to participate in MidnightMadness' annual short story competition. The deadline for entering is January 13, 2010.

This is a unique writing contest in which the author has to create a short story based on an assigned genre and subject.

Example: In Round One, you are one in a group (there are as many as 30 groups, each with its own genre/subject) which is assigned horror story/lamp shade, and you have one week to write and submit a horror short story involving a lamp shade. IIRC the word limit is 1500 words.

If you best those in your group and advance as a finalist to Round Two, all the finalists are assigned the same genre/subject and they have 24 hours in which to write the prize-winning short story.

Just another great writing competition to look forward to.
