Yes, I am more than old enough to be Casey James’ mother (I think he’s 27, and I am 51). But I’ve been rooting for him in this season of “American Idol” since his audition.
Please note: I watch the show and cheer the TV when he’s performing, but I don’t go so far as to phone in and vote. Heck, I don’t even know if Canadians CAN phone in and vote on “American Idol”! At least I’m consistent - I don’t vote during “Canadian Idol” either. But, not voting doesn’t stop me from having a favourite.
Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell were going to punt Casey during his audition, but Kara DioGuardi and guest judge Victoria Beckham essentially said “Wait, wait, wait” and proceeded to ask Casey to take off his shirt! That was a little much for me, after all, there would be an uproar if the male judges asked a female contestant to remove some clothing.
But the female judges (and I, sitting at home) picked up on something about Casey that the guys did just not get, and their instincts have been proved right – as of May 12th Casey is one of the final three contestants in the running to be the next American Idol. I hope Kara is rubbing it in with Simon big time! I am crowing about it to my husband, who also did not see Casey’s appeal (although he now sees that Casey is an incredibly talented musician).
Casey James is so talented (guitarist and singer) that I don’t believe it matters whether or not he wins “American Idol.” He is going to have a great, successful career. I believe he will be the Eric Clapton of his generation.
I look forward to being proven right so,- go Casey, go!

I think Casey is….like…totally yummy! He’s not my type though…I’m almost 59 but I don’t think that’s the point. He is talented and has the drive to make it in the business. You can feel the determination in his energy. I completely agree that asking him to take off his shirt was silly….why do some women give most of us a bad reputation. He is talented….is he the best on American Idol? Well that’s up to the finalists’ fan base. Some of the contestants who made it pretty far into the competition and left have done better than some of the winners. What was the name of last years winner anyway? Sing your heart out Casey, we approve!
