Lots of us feel better when we’re near the water – be it the ocean, a lake or a river. I read it’s to do with the positive effect that negative ions have on the human body (especially crashing waves and pounding waterfalls mean lots of negative ions released into the air).
I like the ocean best, especially a warm, tropical ocean. Not sure how much of that is to do with the surf releasing negative ions into the air, or the margarita releasing alcohol into my bloodstream.
In either case for me, the beach - any beach - is a happy place to be.

ah, the ocean, and ah the margarita!! I love the warm tropics , hawaii, the best.. ..but, it is also great to visit the northern CA coast during the year and look at waves, whales, seals, and anything…..sipping on a hot cocoa or latte…=]
I’ve lived need the ocean when I was growing up and just loved every minute ot it. When I married we still lived close enough to go on vacation to the beaches of the east coast. 9 years ago we moved to MO. I feel lost, no water (I am not a lake person). I can not wait to retire and move back to the east coast ocean!
The ocean just calms me, walking along looking for shells hearing the waving hit the shore, that’s the life for me.

I live in Pennsylvania but close enough to the Jersey shore to get there often in the summer. My absolute favorite beach, though, is Siesta Key Florida. When my husband and I drive down the main road to get there I can feel the stress going right out of me and I love the smell of the beach! Of course, I will take out time to see what our friends, Victor, Niki, Adam, etc. are doing in Genoa City! Yes, I must admit that I have watched Y&R also for over 30 years. I used to feed my daughter who is now 42 while watching!
