Give It Up
An active imagination is a good thing…most of the time. Need an idea, I’m the woman for you. Need a problem solved? I’m a problem solver. Want something new and intesting? I’ve got just the thing. I like being creative and an active imagination is part of that. An active imagination is a good thing until it pulls you away from where you’re at.
I spent the day in another planning meeting, one that I didn’t want to be in, with people I didn’t want to be with. My mind started to drift, a little fantasy here, a little daydream there and the next thing I know I was thing I knew I was living in a different world. “Give up all the worlds except the one to which you belong.” David Whyte. Humans have been reminded through out the ages to be present in the moment. “No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.” –Luk 16:13a A Course in Mircles also speaks to this. “You cannot be faithful to two masters who ask conflicting things of you. These two “masters” are the thought system of the ego and the Holy Spirit’s. 5 What you use in fantasy you deny to truth. 6 Yet what you give to truth to use for you is safe from fantasy. The ego is the protector of fantasy and the Holy Spirit’s thought system is the defender of truth.” But, but, but…….
I like my other world. I liked it until today anyway. Everyday I get a deeper experience of living of living without negativity. The energy of that experience feels very different. It is also different from the false postive that can happen with positive thinking. I attend to that feeling, that unique feeling of being free of negativity and when it’s missing I look for it. It was missing when I was living in the la la land of fantasy. Could it be that fantasy creates negativity? How is that possible?
It pulls you away from the truth of existance. This is the only world you need. This is where you live and when you live in the world in which you live, all is right. We pull away because of fear and the belief that we need something more, something else, something different than what we’ve got. That creates the negativity of complaining and fantasy. Fantasy is negative because it pulls us away from a part of the world that we think should be different without doing anything to change it.
When we pull away we remove ourselves and our gifts from the world. The world needs our gifts. Negativity keeps our gifts from the world. The only way that things will get better for the world and ourselves is to be present, to live in the world, to attend to it with care. In that way we offer our gifts as service, solutions present themselves, and creativity is used the way it’s meant to be used…in service to humanity.
P.S. I hope this makes sense and please excuse the mistakes. The editing department went to lunch without me.

I love it, I too get caught up in fantasy world, its the only way I can get away from these folks. Never looked at it as to the way you are explaining it in the last two paragraghs. I will focus on saying affirmation and bible verses through out the day to get me positive. No more negative thoughts. I need Discipline – training to ensure proper behavior the practice or methods of teaching and enforcing acceptable patterns of behavior…order and control, calm controlled behavior – the ability to behave in a controlled and calm way even in a difficult or stressful situation.
A co-worker introduce me to Matthew Kelly get speaker…check him out. I’m not Catholic but I love his teachings.
He was teaching the “Seven Pillars of Catholic Spiritually” loved it you can pull him up on youtube.com and/or go to http://www.matthewkelly.org.
If you believe that God will come a certain place at a certain time…will you go, will you bring pen and paper. Did you bring it to Church with you because God was there speaking to you. “Our lives change when our habits change”.
Thanks for the insight on fantasy.
