I started MyBigWalk October 1, 2009, and joined the VN blog circle at the beginning of November. In that first month of walking and blogging, I ran a new post on MyBigWalk blogsite almost every day.
Since joining VN I’ve been trying to “catch up” to myself on the VN Blog Circle, posting only the best entries from that first month, so that by the time the holidays roll around, my friends at VN and MyBigWalkers who’ve joined me on my blog site will be walking in step.
Thanksgiving weekend launches the holiday season, and alas I have not yet synced my blog and VN posts. But life’s like that, isn’t it? We make our plans, we lay everything out, we forge ahead, and then there’s a snag. And another snag.
I know that’s how it is for me. I find the car keys, and can’t find my wallet. I resolve to cook better dinners for my family, and then I gain weight. I drive to Home Depot to return the wrong-sized fixture I bought, and have a fender-bender in the parking lot.
So it’s with great wonder on this thanks-giving, karma-giving weekend – when my family traveled from near and far to be together, the turkey was moist, the cranberries were plump and jellied, the mashed potatoes were smooth, the brussels sprouts were perfectly braised, and the sun is still shining here in New Jersey — that when I FINALLY had time to check in with my Vibrant Nation friends, I found ten new women who’d joined the conversation, sharing walking stories, joining us with their own daily commitments, or simply offering words of encouragement.
I have a lot to be thankful for this season.
So thank you, VN friends. When you share your stories with us, it makes the walking a little more joyful, a little less lonely, a little more fun.
Keep walking, and keep telling us how you’re doing! By Christmas/Hanukah, the blogs will be synced. Meanwhile, I hope you’ll check in with me tomorrow, when I’ll be sharing my mother-in-law’s secret to a happy life.

Ok, here I go! I am going to jump off the band wagon and start walking! Again! December 1 I used to walk daily for miles, but lately keep putting it off. You have inspired me! And so has my weight gain from Thanksgiving…=]
