Money is too expensive. I heard that recently and it grabbed me. Brought me to my knees, actually.
We so often forget that earning money requires our most precious resource – our time. And so, how we make money is crucial to our lives. And yet, I must admit, I haven’t always honored this truth. In the pursuit of money, I have worked in jobs that sucked my soul. But now, over 50, I know that how I choose to earn money is the most important choice I can make.
Early Time Clock. In going from corporate consultant to life coach and writer, I have met many challenges with my identity, my finances, and my self-worth. But the one thing that has carried me through is that now, money doesn’t cost too much – I’m spending my time satisfying my deepest desires and fulfilling a deep purpose. Knowing this has helped me to get back in the saddle after a fall and continue traveling down this new, wondrous path. As I hang out with my horses and dogs, and watch my clients create miracles in their lives, money has become less expensive. I enjoy what I do, I am being of service and I am staying in the present.
Time, Not Money, is the Currency of Life. I think the most important contribution I can make is to help my over 50 women clients realize that time, not money, is the real currency of life. So I help them find what they are passionate about and support them in taking the steps to get there. Sure, we need money to live, but we also need to know when enough is really enough.
And this is one of the blessings of getting older – I realize on a very deep level that time will run out, so I better cherish it and pay attention to how I spend it. Life has become more wondrous, more magical… They say that as we age, we get wiser. I believe it. I feel it. Hopefully, I can pass this wisdom on.
