Have you read Kate Fritz Leonard’s Dueling with Dementia: Not the Love Story we Planned? Do yourself a favor and check it out!

I just finished Kate’s book and would recommend it highly. As someone who is on the board of my local Alzheimer’s (and Dementia) association, and someone who had an afflicted grandmother and has an afflicted mother-in-law I found this work to be fascinating. Kate tells a story. She had the perfect romance, the perfect husband and the perfect life. Then she lost him to a rare form of dementia – and along the way she has lost so much more. She shares their life together from impossibly perfect to strange and horrid things are starting to happen, and finally to ‘I’m never alone and I’m always alone.’ What Kate shares is a rare insight into the caregivers and what they feel. Although she doesn’t pretend to speak for everybody, her guileless and genuine narration is chilling at times. So if you’ve ever been curious about Dementia and it’s effects, or if you enjoy a good tragedy – get yourself a copy ASAP!
