Deal breaker: for me has always been dishonesty. Deal maker: humor, engaged in life no couch potatoe.
I like humor also. When all else fails it’s great if someone can make you laugh.
One time I met someone through a dating service. We agreed to meet for coffee, talked non-stop for three hours, really hit it off, and made plans to meet again. He was an archeologist/writer and was intelligent, funny, polite, charming, handsome, sexy, and I could find nothing wrong in the short time that we were together. Then he walked me to my car where we talked another 30 minutes. Then came the question which freaking blew me out of the water. He asked if I enjoyed seeing men dressed in women’s clothing!
I’ve always thought of myself as extremely open-minded, but that was a deal breaker for me.
OMG I burst out laughing and screaming when I read your last line. That is priceless….and sad as he sounded so perfect up until then. I was wondering how a deal breaker in your story was possible – now I know.
Deal breakers: bad hygiene, bad manners, skinny/small stature, addictions, unemployed, dishonesty
Deal makers: just the opposite! Clean and smells good! MMmmmm! Puts me first, thoughtful, considerate, caring, funny, engaged in life, energetic, loyal
We’d all like to meet that guy! I’m not much for skinny/small stature either and unemployed …forget it.
Deal Breakers were (married to mr right now) has kids but never sees them, early on in relationship he knocks his ex, his mother, his siblings etc… dishonesty.. insincerity, smoker..
Deal Makers (or at least things that attracted me) nice smile,, being a gentleman… attentive..

I think you’re right those are good sign posts of deal breakers.
