For years, I have wondered why women are fretful and afraid of menopouse. In my case, I don’t know when or if it happened because of a partial hysterectomy in my early 40’s. That was the greatest decision I could make for my health because after the womb was excised, the body felt so much better. The flooding of my finally regular periods was draining me of life and energy, and within two weeks, I felt so much better that I decided to have a body part removed every year. Reading the following article really puts the fears to rest – so much can be psychological, and even more can be aided with a good diet and regular aerobic and weight training exercise. Take a look, and see how positive our time of life truly is!

I went through menopouse at 30. That was 36 years ago and I am still on HRT. My doctor moniters me twice a year for any problems that may arise. When menopouse started HRT was not a medical term. I was lucky to find a Doctor who was researching hormones and menopouse at Yale New Haven Hospital. I have encountered many women who need hormones and are afraid to use them. In my experience they have been wonderful for me. I look and feel young and vibrant.
Know your body and talk to your doctor is my advice.

Had sex last night for the first time in months!! Calling my gyn in the morning!!! I broke my vagina!! It was so painful I applied so much astroglide u would think he would fall out! But no we both suffered! I have injuries that require medical attention…. i use replense… being a cancer survivor I am terrified of anything w/hormones…. Does anyone out there have advise? I used to have to a great sex life , wish I could again
I am 55, I had a hysterectomy at 23 – full blown menopause by 41 and declared ‘post-menopausal’ at 43!! It came and went like a storm: hot wind and all over irritation, crying and angry, who felt like sex? I did
Yes I had lots of those moments when I stupefied myself with thoughts of “who is he kidding” – but…..
I took Evening Primrose oil for night sweats and was on antidepressants for years. (For the record – it is reportedly common for SSRI’s to decrease our libido, but my experience with Prozac was just the opposite! The others were a flatline in the bedroom.
I tried three types of HRT because the Dr said to take it – but they were disastrous. I am terrified of most Rx /chemicals.
My sex drive is as strong as a deisel engine – but it takes a bit longer to warm up sometims and is good for the long haul. Lubricants are my friend, but honestly I surprise myself often without needing them.
Food played a big part of my adapting to all the changes – a food diary and trackng the reactions. I learned that the biscuits that I love are not my friend in either the digestive or mood department. Things surprised me – but most of all I can tell you that this ppost menopausal gal is happy with her sex life, so is my husband, and though it can get rocky – there was a smoother road ahead for us.
Slow down and hang in there, I hope you feel better very soon.
