What My Mind Remembers

I am staring at you but my world is foggy

So I visualize what my mind remembers

You…the fearless one taking your first steps…alone

I hear your voice…It sounds like waves crashing in my ear

Wrapping my arms around you

I try to keep

    From

        Drowning in my thoughts

                  We hug goodbye

                      And I watch

As you disappear into the night

Debi, I don’t know how you’ve coped in the aftermath of being attacked and injured, but you do seem to cope quite well judging from your writing.  You’re a brave woman.  I acknowledge your guts.

Well, your poem is beautiful and speaks to the power of light and love in banishing darkness.  I’m sorry if this sounds like so much drivel because I mean it in a very real way.
