There’s a saying that what you do in the dark will eventually come to the light. Now it appears that what you do before the age of 50 will determine how well you age. Who knew?
According to researchers from the New Jersey Institute for Successful Aging, people are more likely to age successfully if:
1) They are educated,
2) Never been in prison,
3) Married
4) Drink in moderation or not at all
5) Work for pay or do volunteer work.
The lead author of the research study, Dr. Rachel Pruchino, says “Our research shows how aging is a lifelong process. The person you become at a very old age is really a function of how you lived your earlier years.”
#3 has to mean HAPPILY MARRIED, don’t you think? And how does working in a job you don’t like help when it comes to stress?
The survey involved 6500 people from the New Jersey area.
What do you think?

Thanks for the post it is good to know moderation in life and helping others , pays off and I am glad to know that this in the study.,, I have all five covered, and I am always educating myself through many venues, which without a degree it has enabled me to make a good living And I do not feel my age and am told I look younger than my years but what is even more important is to feel younger and energized.
I have to agree with you on the work part of the list. If you don’t like your job and can’t find another one because of your – wait for it, age – you’re not likely to find that item on the top ten list. I would replace that one with finding and pursuing your passion.
