A stroll in my gardens

The containers of lilies are doing their stuff.

The Gladiolas in the past three days are showing their faces even the ones by our ponds which we have turned off in order to conserve water. The lilies in the background are a mass of color straight across a 2 by 6 foot area

.

On the shade side of the house all the Hostas are starting to bloom and the Echinacea are all over the place showing their beautiful faces.

It seems like each and every day something new appears and today I was able to bring in a small bouquet of Queen Ann’s Lace, Sweet Peas and some small yellow perennials that I never can remember the name of.

The Black eye Susan is prolific this season.

However, today’ stroll was really a day for the Echinacea and now matter where I looked they attracted many butterflies. I am not a good photographer, but I received two wonderful rewards today when I was able to capture two of Echinacea’s visitors.

Can you see the blue butterflies?

Stop by the next time you are in our neighborhood and take a stroll through our garden.

      Hi Elisa’s C,

Thanks for taking the stroll and I just love perennials as it seems you do also.  They make gardening so much easier and if one plants wisely by knowing what blooms when then one has color and flowers all the time.

    Hi Arlene,

Beautiful pictures of your garden.  It’s also been pretty dry here.  Will have to use city water to water the garden since my rain water container is almost empty.

I have only two flowers growing here.  I have rose bushes in my back yard.  Some are out now, and everyday, I literally go and smell the roses.  Their fragrance is awesome.  They will bloom for about a month because they are in part shade.   I can’t bring any in the house as the cats would have a field day with them.  Tried it with the neighbors lilacs this spring.  Found the flowers and jar on the floor.  At least they didn’t break it.  I would have to hang it from the ceiling so they wouldn’t get to it.

I also have another kind of flower which aren’t out yet and I don’t know what they are called.  When they come out they are a big ball of purple color on a long stem.  I just cut them down to the ground in the fall and they grow and bloom at the begining of July.  I was once told what they are called.  Can’t remember!

Enjoy your garden and thanks for sharing.

      Hi anir,

Are they Hydrangers?  We have tons of roses her and I have an antique climbing rose that I planted 10 years ago from a piece of root stock from 1850 or so and it grew up through the rose arbor for years giving us the most abundant and fragrant pink roses each and every June until this year.  A grape vine that I also planted way down the other end of the long arbor made it’s way across the top of the arbor this spring and has completely covered the top of the Albertine Rose so it does not get any sunlight.  We have a bumper crop of grapes this year but now pink roses.  A quandry and now I have to make a decision as to which one goes.
