Horses are forever teaching me! When I see horses frolicking in an open pasture, I’m thrilled to watch them leap in the air, race around, and buck for the sheer love of it! For the freedom and joy of movement. You can just tell they’re feeling great expressing all their power and strength. No one tells them, “don’t buck, it’s not good for you.” Instead, we watch in awe as these magnificent animals show us who they are.
That’s the feeling my clients want in their life! They want to be free to be who they are, even if it means bucking from time to time. Bucking the rules! So, what stops them?
From the time we’re little children we’re told who we “should” be, what we “should” feel and how we “should” act. I’m not talking about social graces or kindness. I’m talking about expectations others have, and the fact that many of us live within the constraints of other peoples rules. Many of us live our lives as we believe others want us to.
But the truth is, no one really knows the right life for you. Only you know that! And often it’s buried beneath a lot of limiting requirements and rules that just don’t apply to the authentic you. That’s why it’s so important to excavate… Dig below the surface in order to awaken your inner cowgirl!
Bucking the rules actually makes you feel stronger and more alive. If you do things that you love you’ll feel more vital, more alive, more energized and confident. Likewise, if you’re doing things you don’t like, you’ll feel weakened, pushed down, tired and achy.
So, in order to buck the rules and feel free, you might just ask yourself a few questions and pay close attention to your answers.
1.) First of all, let go of those things that make you crazy; stop wasting your energy on wondering what others will think.
Who are you trying to please?
Where are you trying to “fit in”?
What would you like to never, ever do again?
2.) Tap into your passion. Remember, you can’t fake it — if you’re passionate about it, it shows!
What makes you feel amazing, vital, better-than-ever?
What activity do you do that makes time absolutely stand still?
When do you feel strong and confident?
And, even if you’re not great at it yet, what makes you curious and aching to learn?
3) You owe it to yourself to be truly you!
What do you resonate with in nature?
What’s always in the back of your mind, nagging at you to do or be?
What’s important to you in life; what would you fight for?
4) Bucking the rules means you make choices, you’re creative, you don’t just react to circumstances:
What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?
What makes you happy to talk about, even if it seems unreal, impossible or a bit crazy?
Where do your dreams take you?
5) And lastly, and this is huge:
What will you regret if you never ever do it?
So, try bucking a bit; say no, let go and move in new directions. I’ll bet you’ll start to feel the freedom of the horses in the field – truly alive and strong, expressing yourself and showing the world who you really are!
I wrote these down and going to journal my answers. Thank you!
I hope they help….let me know how it goes!
