As the weather heats up or stays beastly hot where you live, here are some tips to help you keep your cool.
- Wear open toe shoes whenever possible.
Pretty polish on your toes and you are cooling from the bottom up. - A sleeveless top, preferably wicking as your first layer.
You can always layer with an airy sweater or blouse but able to dress ”down”
(Available at Haralee.com) - Always wear underwear.
It may be tempting to go bra-less, but don’t. If you are older than 25, no tube tops or short-shorts. Strapless dresses that have elastic smocked bodices, you still must wear a bra.
No Belly Shirts.
Even if you have a 6 pack or Abs of steel that you are proud of, No! You can wear the bikini at the beach but no belly shirts if over 30.- Not sure if a look is appropriate for you? Ask a girlfriend’s opinion.
I have a good friend who has a body anyone would die for and she works hard to maintain it. On a recent shopping trip I had to tell her ‘No’ on a few things. Yes they looked great on her, most clothes do, but they were not age appropriate. As we were walking for coffee a woman passed us in too short and too tight skirt and top. My friend turned to me and said, “She doesn’t have a friend to tell her NO”!
Take Away: Girlfriends don’t let girlfriends dress inappropriately!
Have you had a friend give you a fashion thumbs up or thumbs down recently?
If you really want to know if you can wear something, ask your daughter. She won’t be afraid to tell you the truth. And, if you are lucky enough to have grandchildren, ask any 5-year-old. But, be prepared.
On the other hand, I’m 59-years-old (OMG, I’m almost 60) and I wear leggings and jeggings. Most women can wear them if the top is long enough to be a mini dress from the 60s.
And, I think that women can get away with more than they think. You don’t want to look dowdy, do you? I’m thinking about going steampunk-lite because I love hats and long skirts. No, I won’t wear bustles and goggles, but I will add a few accessories and Victorian accents. Only one problem remains – how will I get my husband out of shorts and tennis shoes?
You are right Christina about young kids, they don’t lie easily about some one’s fashion!
I think Steam Punk-lite is a look, more power to you! As far as your husband, maybe one fashionista in the family is enough?
