Today marks the one year anniversary of my unsuccessful marathon attempt. In short, I made it to Mile 21 of the Air Force Marathon when the race officials swept the course. It was a sad day for me.
Today also marks the official first day of training for my next marathon attempt, the Little Rock Marathon in March, 2013. I’m using a six-month training plan and I promise you the start date naturally fell on today. I didn’t plan it.
The irony of this timing isn’t lost on me. For the past year I’ve dwelled on what I didn’t accomplish. But now it’s time to look toward the future and discover what I can do.
I like that.
I have always focused on what I HAVE accomplished……Freshman at 65, because I wrote about what I have overcome in life and won a scholarship. I am moderator of an abused survivors group, written my memoir and a poetry book (have unbelievable endorsements), dancer, singer, veteran of the Women’s Army Corps…..and a lot of other good stuff (oh, recognized by my university as “Distinguished Undergraduate” ..not for anything I have done in school, but what have managed to accomplish in my life (and still working on accomplishing MORE)
So celebrate you and what you have done. We cannot win or do everything, but we can…and SHOULD celebrate what we have done!
fab-u-lous!
