The Hunger Games: The beginning of a new trend in movies?

I have not read the books, but saw the movie The Hunger Games last weekend. I absolutely loved it. What a very strong character for our young people to model after. I did not see a woman acting like a man. Quite the opposite. I saw a young woman humanizing the ‘game’ she was forced to play, playing by her rules and not theirs, and winning the game in a way that no one had before. The way I see it, she out-thought every man in the story. Her competitors, the game show host, the game manager, and even the president of the country.

The best part is she did not compromise herself or her principles and still came out on top. And although she did get dolled up for some scenes, she didn’t stoop to wearing revealing clothes or any sexy love scenes. She did show great and deep emotion without looking like she was losing control. Wow, can America deal with this? If this is the beginning of a new trend in movies, bring it! Bring it as fast and as strong as you can, because this is a wonderful thing. Stories that portray strong women who support other women, stories that portray strong families, and men who support both.
