When we were discussing LOA/The Secret on another thread a few asked for a thread on vision boards.
I learned about “vision boards” when I was looking into LOA. The boards that I made for myself and for others were based on individual preferences. My board is in three sections. I took foam board available at Walmart/Joanns/Hobby Lobby/Micheals, covered in fabrics to match my bedroom colors. The two smaller boards have pictures of what I want to achieve or I am working toward in specific areas of professional , health, travel and education. The larger board is broken up into spiritual and financial. The pictures have been pulled from magazines, the Internet or photographs. There are positive affirmations and reminders I printed on the computer some are hand written. I use gold stretch cord wrapped around the board so I can slip the pictures and affirmations under the cord. Then once the change/goal has been achieved it can be removed. Once removed a new goal can be added. The boards created for others take their preferences into account. It can be done on poster board or typing paper. I like the covered boards, so that they can displayed where I can see them EVERYDAY. I have also covered journals ( one for gratitude) and a desk set. It can be very simple or quite involved. Hope this helps.

Thank you. These could make great gifts and the first one I’m giving it to is me. This is so simple. It can be customized. My decorator me says to use complimentary fabric on foam board and use padding under and then stretchy cord like you said and then hang in the place where you sit at the computer, pay bills and sewing room. Maybe even have one in 1 or 2 places. I like this. Maybe make it a theme board. Do you find it helps you organize things better? I’m assuming that LOA means Library of America? Just looked it up but not sure.
I do find that I have different boards in different rooms. I have two small one that I covered in a rust color crepe then went over the corners with the sheer rust with the sparkles on it. They are great for helping children and young people focus on goals.
I have found that the more I sit down and go over what I want to achieve the easier it was to weed out unnecessary actions. When I first retired I really had lost my sense of direction for me. It has helped me adjust my focus, while it still needs tweaking I have no doubt I will get there. My niece was floundering so we got a sketch notebook and it has become her “Vision Book” It is really helping her create a map for herself. We made a fabric cover for her book and she embellished it to suit her personality. It is something that can be (I encourage this) done WITH young people.
Thanks Bekah, I have one but need to divide it into groups as you suggest,
Because of my greatest friend that The Creator sent me on short term but gave me my greates lesson in love and forgiveness….I have designed a board for beauty and for privacy when complete it I hope I can download the picture as to what i used for the project, sometimes we don’t want everyone to see our wants, desires, dreams etc, so I will share if I can if not I will write in what I have used and how I did it,,,,Thanks again
There are some dreams that are always private and we hold dear to our heart. I have a journal that has lined pages and blank page this is where my private dreams go. That way I see it frequently without it being posted on my bedroom walls. Sometimes it just takes putting it into words to get us back on track.
So true, You might at some times be in a location and what a visonary board not on public display but at your personal view sometimes Your ”small ” dreams can be labled SIMPLE or foolish by others, and sometimes some goals undisclosed to the wrong people is the best location
It is all about the Law of Attraction that the vision boards are being created. We create for ourselves and the Law of Attraction helps us to know how.
Have you seen the DV or read the book titled The Secret? The Law of Attraction materials from Esther Hicks channeling her guide Abraham is one of the best resources to exercise the Law of Attraction.
God bless, J
LOA is the Law of Attraction. Just curious, moongoddess how did you boards turn out?
Bekah,
I hadn’t thought to add fabrics to my vision board. I’m going to do that with the next one. The one I do have has pictures mounted on a nice thick foam core board. I have themed it around my great adventure that I am living. It includes photos of everything I want to see in my experience. I’ve placed it on a table with other elements that represent the life I am creating. It’s what I see every morning when I wake up and serves as a reminder to stay focused.

Hey Denise,
Fabri, lace, beads, feathers anything left from other projects all kinds of embellishments add personality to our boards. I guess its sort of like scrapbooking for your future. They become not only “works in progress” as we accomplish goals but they can turn into works of art!
I love that idea: “scrapbooking for your future.” Here’s something that just occurred to me – if you haven’t thought of that idea as a business, I’d recommend it. I haven’t seen that take on the vision board concept. Could be a great moneymaker for you.

Thank you, I am looking to start my on line business in August 2010, I make silk arrangements, wll hangings and would like to include the vision boards.
I enjoy creating. I wanted to start with the Autumn / School, ( Autumn and the holiday season are personal favorites!), then move into Thanksgiving/Christmas/Hanuka/New Years, take a brief break then Valentines/Passover/Easter and into Wedding season!
