I am too old (71) to have gone to Woodstock, but we have one of those “family stories” about it. My oldest daughter was 14 and already had a reputation for being the rebellious one in the family. She came to me and said Mom, i have a ride to go to Woodstock. At this point, having 3 younger children, and running a business, didn’t know what Woodstock was, so i asked the normal questions, where is it, what is it? She said it’s a music concert in New York, so my next question was, well whose parents would you be with….her answer, oh mom, he’s an adult and has a van and will drive us all there….oh, how old is this adult….18……well i made some mistakes raising my children, but this wasn’t one of them…..so to try to “make up with her” I bought her the record for her birthday….an old 78….and the first time i came home from work and heard one particular song “The F Song” i found the little grove on the record where that song was located, and scratch it all around with a pin…..needless to say, she was mad again…oh well….she now has 2 adult young men, and has apologized to me several times for the “hard times” she gave me….but like i told her, i don’t have to forgive you, a mother’s heart forgives instantly.
Me again, so if i win this Woodstock prize, i can tell her I’ve been to WoodStock, ha, ha, ha !
I would go if I won.It would be a very positive experience for me.
I’d LOVE to win this Reinvention. It was Vibrant Nation, a few years ago when it first began, that helped me get my feet on the ground & rediscover my interest & capabilities in writing non-fiction.
Now, just days after celebrating my 59th birthday, I find that I’m losing momentum in writing & in appreciating the years as they roll by. I’ve been looking for some way to jazz up my attitude & general health/beauty. This seems like just the ticket!
Please enter my name in the Women @ Woodstock Retreat contest! And, thanks again, Vibrant Nation!
I was just diagnosed with high blood pressure, and my EKG was borderline abnormal. In addition to that, I work at an inner city school, which, although it can be very rewarding, it can also be very stressful (mostly because of the adults, not the students). This retreat would be so good for me!
No, I’ve never been to Woodstock, but would really like to attend the Red Mountain Spa Vibrant Nation Retreat. I am 67, divorced once, widowed 2 times, and my first fiance never returned home from Vietnam. My parents, only brother & 1 child have also died. I tell myself not to carry these things along with me but to enjoy each day I am given. However, I sometimes find it very difficult to live in the present and not the past. At present I have no partner in my life, but know when I do I am so much more joyful. I have been seeking for an all women’s retreat to go to but have not been able to do that yet. I know I need to be more outgoing and do things for others, that will help me, but so far, I can’t make my mind up about an interest to volunteer in. I am a retired nurse and work very rarely to fill in for someone, so I also don’t have a job that gives me something else to do. I spend way too much time on the computer. I need to change my life more and would hope to be stimulated to do so at the Red Mountain Spa Retreat, so please enter me in your sweepstakes. Thank you.
At 58, I’m too young to have attended the original Woodstock. I’ve grown up hearing the amazing Woodstock stories told by my cousins who did attend (they’re 5 and 8 years older than I), so I’m really stoked about having the opportunity to attend the upcoming ”Women at Woodstock” event!
I can’t really express how much it is needed in me to go to this retreat. Unfortunately I can not afford to or I would be there already. My reasons for wanting to go is so cut wrenching that I can not talk about it now. It would get me so upset that I can’t function. I’m 57 years old and I have so much life in me, but what has happened to me shouldn’t ever happen to a woman.

Good luck!
I was only 11 when Woodstock took place, but I remember listening to the stories of people in my neighborhood who went. It sounded so mystical and surreal to me at that age.
I would really be blessed to attend this retreat. I am currently writing 2 books and developing my own line of greeting cards. I need a refreshing and a boost of enthusiasm!
It’s going to be great!
~Erin
