It is now late May, almost Memorial Day, and I realize that I have made no plans for a summer

One of the things that becomes more important to us as we get to be ‘a certain age’ is leaving

I’ll start just cuz I can. Of course there are a million things, but so far today I watched Toots, our cat, crouch under the maple tree & pounce on the leaves as they fell to the ground.
Toots was a stray last November, & she adopted us. I have never had a pet who radiates gratitude like this sweet cat. So watching her gives me the gladness that she can play with these leaves because they’re at HER house
For me it’s a day with no headache at all. That’s something very rare for me, and it’s something to truly be cherished. Also a day when I have energy and feel like I accomplished a lot. What a GREAT feeling that is!
OH – or a day like today here in Illinois when the heat and humidity have disappeared. It’s SO gorgeous out there. I need to get back outside to enjoy it now, even though I have a really bad headache from the sudden change in weather. Fortunately I’m in a good mood despite that – which is another thing I’m enjoying today.
Sunshine and a clear blue sky is my pure happiness.
I am plagued with headaches due to a weather change too Duffy. This summer has been hot & humid & there haven’t been too many days I haven’t had to take something once at least. It’s beautiful here in SW Ontario today too. I’m looking forward to Sept, hopefully the humidity will leave with August.
Glad you’re enjoying your day!
Ummm…Love those kitties!!!
Reaching over in the middle of the night and giving a gentle touch and kiss to my sleeping sweetheart.
The excited look on my 10 month old granddaughter’s face when she sees me, my dog, a nice hot day with barely a wind and not having to go into the office.
every night at 7:30 I go out and go for a swim in our outdoor pool. it’s an old building, an old pool and surrounded by tress’s and lots of foliage. the tree’s actually meet overhead when your in the pool. I just go for a nice float for half an hour or so. and feel like I live in the lap of luxery.
and with the heat this summer, it’s been even more pleasant and enjoyable than any other summer.
I’ve enjoyed it so very much.
Nuzzling the soft swwet napes of my grandsons’ necks!
Oh my gosh, that would be wonderful…I can only dream of it! I’d be taking in a biiig deeep breath too. Ah, baby smell!
There are so many sweet moments in the day, but one favorite of mine is waking up in the morning, snuggling back in my covers, and feeling so grateful that life is good!
Sunday morning, drinking coffee and reading the newspapers with my husband.
The welcome I get when I walk in the front door from my dogs, especially my little one Trinity. It doesn’t matteri if I have been away a week or just stepped out to get something from the car, the welcome is always the same, Thank God Mom you are home we missed you – where are the treats.

My first morning cup of hot coffee with half n half.. rich, warming, comforting.. my day can begin! and extra-appreciated because my hubby gets up first and makes it… ahhhhhhh, yes. . .
Waking up and realizing it’s Saturday and I don’t have to go to work; my cats jumping up on the bed to say good morning and, please, open the darn can of cat food; my 3 year old granddaughter calling me and saying, “Grandma, can I come over and play with you today?” My 17 year old granddaughter when she introduced me to one of her teachers and said, “This is my grandmother – she’s my best friend.” Baby giggles.
A hot cup of tea…..a new field of Bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush and Wisteria (that signals spring here), the first frost and turning of the leaves… ohh the smell of fresh apple cider…okay I’m in my happy place now.
How about the smell of burning leaves? Wonderful! That crisp, sharp, nip in the face fall day. Seeing a hummingbird close up! Holding my little grandaughter with no eyes…she loves unconditionally! We are so glad she is still with us. She turned 3 August 3rd. Our blessing and joy. All of our grandchildren. We are blessed with 4, two girls and two boys… Talking on the phone with my Dad, who is 85, every day. Hearing him say he loves me….every day! Words I waited SO long to hear! A wet, doggy lick on the hand….devoted.
My dear husband’s caress. Reading a good book, the kind you don’t want to put down. Drawing, coloring, painting….
I could go on and on…..:)
LOL, I can relate. I do love a good book and a vibrant fall day, smells in the farmer market of pumpkins, apples and hay. The fresh soft smell of babies after a bath. Sound of a soft rain. A pot of veggie soup cooking on a chilly day ( looking forward to the chilly after so much 100+ weather. The look on our 16 year old spaniel when she lays head on my knee to get her chin scratched.
