in my house. Thought I’d be up at dawn coloring my hair before I hurt anyone else, but that plan got waylaid.
I think the apple did not fall far from the tree when it comes to my wonderful daughter. She got a call about 4:30 am from her closest friend. She needed help because she (21 years-old) had drank too much and somehow ended up in a rip roaring fistfight with another girl, who was supposedly her good friend as well.
My daughter did not hesitate. She jumped in her car, armed with her little brother (and I say this with a grain of salt because it’s hard to describe him as little since he’s 6’5″ tall) and went to rescue her pal.
They woke me up because she’d taken quite a pummeling to the face, so, as you would suspect, I’ve spent the last several hours icing, and consoling this young woman. She has no mother so who be it better than me to take on this role for her. She’s a lovely young woman so I am grateful she allows me this opportunity. Everyone needs a mother figure in their corner!
This also led to discussions of being very selective about your friends. My philosophy is always…be with those who are willing to take you up, lift you when you fall, laugh at your bad jokes, and have your back no matter what.
I guess God’s picks those perfect times to make you available to those in need. I feel so lucky this morning. I think she’ll see her luck a few hours from now after the Advil kicks in and she got a few more hours of sleep under her belt.
My fucking hair is still not done, but alas, maybe after i get back from the hospital this afternoon I can get to it.

How funny....i only very recently (within last week) read the coconut oil articles on the web. (100 uses, 80 uses etc.) so i bouht some and ordered some from amazon. (Im a stockpiler.)

I really, really like that you did all that as well as your philosophy about friends. Who really cares about the grays?
Your the kind of mom every kid needs. The BUT is ‘every kid’ doesn’t have one. I believe there are those of you jb, out there who raise their own kids to value their Moms, & know you will be there for their friends. We live in a small community, & the kids know where & when to take friends when they need a little ‘fixing up’, a drive home, a bed for the night, a place to cool off, whatever kids do. Sounds like you JB, a special person in the neighbourhood. Way to go ! Kudos
Just following in my mothers footsteps. She is that one as well. Guess it’s that apple and tree thing. You know, many of the friends my daughter had lived in dysfunctional families. My house, my marriage, and my ability to make bullshit smell like wine is what keeps ‘em coming back I guess. They know that no matter what they can talk to me about anything and I will always try to help them sort it out or help them see something in a different light. I’m one of those lucky ones I guess.

Age is but a number. So hair color should be but as it comes.

By my age many friends are going to the hairdresser to get the all white look. Blue not so popular these days. LOL I find au naturalle is true at any age.
