I am a funny person by nature and yet I am seen as very serious most times..I take my journey very serious on this planet… Now I do love good clean fun and sometimes the clean may be questionable depends on who is the “judge” LOL.
I like the Spiritual post and The family Post and occasionally the politic and news…I try to check out as many kinds of post as I can but normally I like to keep up with the VN sisters who keep up with me…but every now and then I like to get on a “stranger” post and give encouragement especially if it is not popular or no one has been on the thread…I guess that is one way I try to be balance on VN.
But being balance is so important it keeps us centered and not going TILT from too much weight on one side like in the scale of justice, balance is so important..How so you see balance in your life?
I even try to take time on post that are really just fun and don’t have any worth but a good laugh …but laughter is balance too.

Hi fayetteSIPP,
Not sure what you mean by balance, but I love variety. I can’t stand the same ole routine. So I guess balance is not in my life. I have more of a free for all attitude. I will often surprise people by doing or saying something unexpected. People who know me even just a little, know that they can never tell what I will say or do.
I am not a planner, very impulsive. Unfortunatly, I often speak my mind, especially when it is not waranted. I can be flexible or I can be very stuburn and hold my own no matter what. I blame it on my being a Gemini, althought I don’t beleive in astrology.
I will read all the posts here and am often pleasantly surprised as to what I find even if the title or subject did not strike me when I first read it. I will often just click on the love icon and move onto another post or I will give a short response or a long one, such as this one, hope I am not boring you. Yawn!
So what is your description of balance? A sorrow for a smile, a bad then a good, a laughter and a tear? I would rather lean towards the happiness and leave the sadness behind. Although, how will you ever experience real happiness if you have never suffered at least once.

I have just got in from a live theater and I am pumped so…….I check in and see your response Thank you
The balance I am talking about is doing anything too much is unbalance…….being happy all the time would be unrealistic unless you really are a saint..but then Jesus wept….
It’s like having an idea of how to do something and not ever wanting to try someone else idea, being stuck on stupid not getting out of the box I would say in my world you are probably quite balance most of the time (smile) I have a child , a brother , a sister,. and a friend who are Gemini and yes there is something to the signs….. as far as speaking ones mind I have been kn own for that trait…but I am becoming "BLANCE" Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t….it gives everybody a break and gives others the right to be heard without someone "knocking them out of the water"…I had a man once tell me I took the air out of the room…I realize he had a point an nobody would recognize that better than he because he not only took out the air he stole the space (lol)…but I learned to sometime not kow so much even when I did know …do you get where I am going.. but of course we have some smart sisters who will lay it out better than me ..so let’s see.
Hi,
I understand what you mean better now. I only analyse my life when it is asked of me and I guess I do have some sort of balance. I also try to keep my opinions to myself…once in a while. I am not always the happy person in the group, I do have my down times.
I guess balance is what I have been in search of lately since I have decided to do less overtime at work and spend more time doing things that need to be done at home, so many projects, so little time….Of course, less ovetime, less money to finish those projects…
Dynamomma has a point when she says she stopped deviding her life in different sections and just set 3 standards to whatever she wanted to acheive. Not being very well organised, I guess I will just keep going with the flow. It’s not so bad.

What an interesting topic. I don’t think I’ve ever really thought about keeping balance. I do. I think my whole idea about balance became engrained when my mom belonged to a church organization called the temperance union. I thought that was a funny word so I asked what it was. I learned that in every area of our lives we need to have temperance — simply put — do not become over indulgent in any one thing because that is gluttony. It made sense to me. So throughout my life as I tried to balance home, work, family, husband, health, growth, money, friends, recreation, fun and spirituality, I knew that at any time one of these areas would have to for that moment be out of balance and require more of my attention. For instance, with working mothers, they spend 75% of each day on the job. There’s no balance in that, but it is absolutely needed. So a long time ago, I stopped separating each part of life, or compartmentalizing, and applied three goals to each activity that I undertook. Those three goals were to 1) have a purpose in all areas, 2) be happy doing whatever it needed to do, and 3) try to make a difference. So today my life was extremely out of balance . . . I cleaned house all day (smile). But I think you might also be referring to counter-balancing some negative aspect in our lives. I like the verse that says “Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is despair, show hope, where there is sadness, show joy.
Oh so beautifully said…I belonged to a church that taught balance ,,don’t over eat. over sex. over sleep etc….to this day I eat off a 9″ plate , My mother taught me not to over visit… familiarity, breeds contempt…I love the views and opinions of others and I got more balance in my life when I came out of the “religious box” and learn to appreciate spiritual leaders and people all over the world for the good that each bring and realize that perfection is an illusion of hope…
Your last 2 sentences sayd it all. Like It!
I’m glad it rang true for you.
I love and adore Balance!! It took a while for me to realize what that means for me and how to achieve it — most of the time!! And, of course, the older I get — the easier it is. I can throw off meaningless activities and any ‘stuff’ that interferes with my balance. I look at balance like a 3-legged stool. One leg is physical, one mental, and one spiritual. One cannot have a useful stool with one leg missing. One leg can be shorter than the other and it often happens – and the stool is still useful. Soooo, I can truly look within and know what is happening. I have a band of ‘wellness’ inside my head about 10 inches wide. If I go below or above that band – I know something needs work. And, it seems to effect all 3 – physical, mental and physical. And, the sooner I face it — the sooner I get back to that wonderful place – balance.
It took a lot of work to get there but very well worth it.
Maggie you got the picture…and I have heard of that three legged stool, thanks for the example it is a great one.
We have to take time to nurture all of us Physical/ Mental/ Spiritual ..
Spot on — and — further to your knowing how important it is to be in balance with food, mind and spirituality — is that simply a matter of good manners???
Probably so…can’t hurt.
P.S. — forgot to mention — I am the seat of this stool — guess that is rather important!!!
Being the seat means you sometimes have a lot to hold (lol)
Balance means being in harmony. The chinese use the Yin/yang which means for all that is dark we balance with light, for what is hard we balance with softness, for what is strong, we balance with what is weak, thus creating harmony. In life there will always be one or the other, but we must learn to keep the balance between the two in order to achieve harmony.
Take the word DISEASE (meaning sickness & unhealthy), DIS-EASE, imbalance. Remove the DIS and we have EASE, balance & health.
Also adore harmony — has a musical lilt to it — for me. You are so right and thanks for the reminder.
Thanks for the input I love the culture of the Chinese in their understanding of wisdom and life. I have a book on Yin and Yang wonderful sayings of wisdom.
