“Chil’ren, sometimes a body has to yield the floor to the fool for the masses to see him for the fool that he is.” Shark-fu Hot Conversation

I read this recently and was reminded of how I have seen that theory, in different guises, at play, aging along with me and becoming more applicable with each passing year.

What are your favorite witticisms that have grown better with age?

So do I, especially the way she thinks (the style of her simple clothes is great too and can be mimicked quite easiiy since hers are way too expensive).

A couple of other quotes I’ve saved over the years:

Elegance does not consist of putting on a new dress.

Fashion fades, only style remains the same.

I’ll have to put that last one up somewhere. lol

I find her such a fascinating person. Her life story, her talent, her determination……….all before women’s lib. A true rags to riches. What an inspiration.

Thank you Five to Nine, I will remember this last one to use with my children~

Do. Or do not.  There is no ‘try’.  I believe will become among my favorite sayings that my children can repeat verbatim with sing song voices…..LOL   But ya know, they are learning them aren’t they.

You’re welcome to it!  As I get older, I’ve gotten just a shade crabbier and I have no patience when someone tells me they tried to do something but didn’t, e.g.,  “I tried to call you.”  What does that mean?  You put your hand out but it didn’t reach the phone?  The phone jumped out of your grasp?  Either you called me or you didn’t.  My caller ID says that you didn’t.

Needless to say, trying is better than not trying and we sometimes fail when we try, especially kids.  That’s part of the human condition, it’s more than OK because that’s how we learn.

But it’s irksome when people say they tried to do something when what they really mean is that they didn’t really try at all.
