Depending on how you count…we have 12 days until Christmas or just began the 12 days of Christmas. As we begin the busiest days of the season, I have a challenge for VN readers:
Visit this post each day over the next 12 days and post a positive thought or something for which you are grateful this year/season. Consider it your one minute centering stop, a place to take a deep breath and/or realign your thoughts.
And for those of you who started the Hannukah celebration yesterday, feel free to use this post as well.
What do you think? Are you up to the challenge?

I am grateful for – a free trip to to Maui, Hawaii from which I just returned. It was a gift for completing my doctor of mangement degree this year….after leaving it on hold for 4 years. It was a chance to relax, to connect with people (and not statistics) again. A wonderful gift to tie a bow on the whole experience.

On the second day of Christmas, I am grateful for my health. Though not perfect, it is much improved than the health I had in 2007 and 2008. 2009 finds me with a year without surgery or mysterious diseases that defy diagnosis. Yeah!
On the third day of Christmas, I am grateful for resiliency that comes with “time on the water” to quote a friend of mine. Things we handle flawlessly now, would have stopped me in my tracks in my earlier years!
On the fourth day of Christmas, I am grateful for the lifestyle that I’m living now that allows me the freedom to stay warm and safe inside my home while the snow continues to fall outside. I live in an area where I simply have to go down to the basement and out a door into an inside mall for food and simple items. For this girl who does not like cold weather, this living arrangement is a blessing.
I’m going to write the first thing that came to my head. I am grateful for my children being born healthy and they’ve lived to the age of 40. For that I am so grateful. Maybe because I lost my husband when I was 32 and he was 34, but I’m so grateful to still have my children.
Excellent
I am grateful for a hot shower, my time to reflect and talk with God. I’m grateful for my health and the wisdom that life has taught me. I am grateful that Jesus was born and ponder what life would be if God hadn’t given him to us. I am ever mindful of the pain that God has while watching what our society has become and I am thankful for his mercy. We need to stop shopping and start focusing on what Christmas is truly about…. LOVE.
9 Days til Christmas…. I am grateful for the warmth of the Sun that embraces my skin and warms my spirit. Stepping out the door it’s such a drastic contrast with the kiss of the cold breeze. Beauty is all around if only we take the time to bask in it and notice. Merry Christmas
Excellent!
