Florida ER Doctor’s Notes

“I live and work in a state overrun with illegals.  They make more money having kids than we earn working full-time. Today I had a 25-year old with 8 kids – that’s right 8; all illegal anchor babies and she had the nicest nails, cell phone,  handbag, clothing, etc. She makes about $1,500 monthly for each; you do the math. I  used to say, “We are the dumbest nation on earth.” Now I must say and sadly admit: WE are the dumbest  people  on earth (that includes ME) for we elected the  idiot ideologues who have passed the bills that allow this. Sorry, but we need a  revolution. Vote them all out in  2010. ”

To you and Dyna below, as a naturalized American citizen who was a LEGAL immigrant, I’m not crazy about the whole thing myself (this is putting it mildly). You’d be amazed how many legal immigrants are outraged.

I am incensed when I see illegals marching on D.C. ‘demanding’. And more outraged by the politicians and political groups that organize them to do so (the nicely printed matching t-shirts give them away). Actually I believe that, to a certain point, the illegals are being exploited by these groups for their own ends.

And ladies, our personal political views aside, Dems courted these folks heavily during the last elections (I have Spanish radio and TV, trust me) – gee, I wonder why that was, since illegals can’t vote………and now they are demanding amnesty -look at the politicians who are supporting them …………… hmmmmmmmmmm ………..think politicians were buying future votes………? Nawwwwwwww, not in this country……lol

      Immigration reform, yes. Amnesty………NO.

I agree TRACK.  I’m completely disgusted with what has happened in America.  There is an organization that is fighting amnesty.  It’s http://www.fairus.org .  It seems like a legit organization.  But who knows for sure.  That motto about “give me your tired your poor”.  It should say “give me your jobless and broke and we’ll take from Americans and give to you.”

There are a lot of loopholes in the system and i personally write the white house about those here in So. Florida.  I wrote a letter asking Pres Obama if he wanted to employ people to send 75-100 investigators down to SoFlo to investigate medicaid fraud.  When anybody can open a “clinic” and start billing the government that is an automatic ring, ring, ring… here it happens a lot.  People discuss it on talk radio openly.  Your comments were said about black women, hispanic women, american indian women and now you say illegal aliens.  My opinion is that although they may look like the cultures described, these women are probably American citizens.  I do not know where it is said that illegal aliens can have benefits.  To this day, all the ones that i met, and i was a paralegal for immigration law, were always working the fields and hiding from Immigration.  Now, if you say the person is originally from Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, etc or is from descendants of those countries, then you are talking.  That person is probably an American either by being born here or by becoming a citizen.  It is probably first generation.  You first have to be a legal resident in order to get federal help, except Cubans because due to that country being Communist they have special priviledges.  Americans come from many backgrounds.   I do not know about you but when i was raising my child it took a lot of money to raise him.  I was making barely $25,000.00 during the first year and i could not make ends meet.    Between high rent, food, a car note, insurance, utilities, phone, etc etc etc i had to take a part time job at Macys to help me with all those expenses.  Having said that, we need to look at the loopholes and fix them.  Fraud has been happening in our system, no matter what agency it is, since i can remember.  Everybody knows it and nobody does anything about it.  Have you written the White House about this? Nothing may happen or maybe something will.  But if you do not od it, with specific details, what’s the use>  I write until my fingers tire.  I do not know if the coming of investigators in SoFlorida was part of my doing, and i really do not here if it was, but i see a lot of people in front of the Miami Herald being caught and i am a happy woman.  I feel that if is not my letters at least it was my energy that did it.  There are many more to go and i hope it keeps happening every week.

The folks over at the Associated Press took a stab at this contentious question this week as part of its weekly “Ask AP” column in which its journalists answer queries from readers.

In a post last week, we talked about some ways that illegal immigrants pay taxes — such as sales taxes and paying into Social Security. But the AP writers touched on a few more points.

They cited research showing that if “all illegal immigrants were deported, agriculture would lose nearly a quarter of its workers, the building maintenance industry would lose 17 percent and the construction industry would lose almost 15 percent.”

Here’s an excerpt from the AP report:

Illegal immigrants contribute to the economy whenever they pay sales tax and, indirectly through rent payments, real estate taxes.

Also, those who use false Social Security numbers pay taxes into the system they don’t get back, since people here illegally aren’t eligible to receive Social Security payments. In 2003 alone, the government received Social Security taxes on $57.8 billion from wage reports that couldn’t be matched to the person filing.

Illegal immigrants are excluded from most federal and state entitlements like subsidized housing or food stamps, and a 2007 congressional report found they appear to contribute more than they use in services. But the money they contribute often goes to federal and state coffers, while many services they benefit from, such as health and law enforcement, come out of local government budgets.

Several studies show more than half of the country’s estimated 12 million illegal immigrants are uninsured (out of a total of 47 million uninsured people in the U.S.) and thus likely to use public emergency rooms that treat everyone regardless of ability to pay. It’s difficult to calculate the amount of free health care — or, for that matter, free public-school education — they benefit from, since it simply isn’t known what proportion of these services go to people who are in the country illegally.

Another cost of illegal immigrants: Their willingness to accept low wages drives down wages in some industries. Then again, if immigrants didn’t take these jobs, some of them might get outsourced overseas.
