I’m 53, I’ve always had oily skin. The pores on & just around my nose have always been big. But lately I’ve noticed the “big” pores seem to be spreading farther out into my cheeks. What the heck?? Putting makeup on accentuates them. Has anyone had this happen and is there anything I can do?????

We could be twins, I am also 53 and I have the same problem with my pores. I recently started using Olay CC cream. It is a very light foundation that comes out of the dispenser with a moisturizer. It has worked well for me to fill the pores and then disguise them. It goes on a little greasy but soaks in. I tried the loose mineral powder makeup and it only accentuates them. I’ve read about the “real” original BB creams available from Korea and I think I want to try them. They are supposed to repair a lot of skin issues. The brand I am going to try is “SKIN 79″ as it is available in the US. Good Luck.
Thank you, Tere. I wonder what causes this? What is the BB cream from Korea & what’s the CC cream? Where would you get the stuff from Korea?
DG59, I am 55, soon to be 56 and I don’t know what the heck is going on with my gigantor pores! I awoke this morning with my skin oily and when I looked in the mirror I scared myself! I have never seen my pores as big as they were this morning! As a rule I don’t bother with make-up and never have, only on special occasions. I exfoliated & put on a moisturizer, but like you I am looking for a solution to this problem.
Gravity at work. Try Biore.
You aren’t kidding! hahahahahaha!
Yea, this for sure wasn’t something I had anticipated. Wish there was an easy solution. I just don’t get it. Why would large pores start spreading across the face, what does that have to do with getting old. Blech.
Per the Allure magazine anti-aging guide: “Your pores expans as gunk accumulates in them – the older you get, the more likely they are to stay expanded. Put them on a diet by switching to a cleanser with salicyic acid. It helps slough away dead skin that can lead to clogging. Deflate and clean pores – like the ones on your nose – once a week with pore strips”
Ok, thanks btkdiva.
I had this exact same thing, in my early forties, and it wasn’t caused by aging, it was food allergies! I had starting eating those CheesePleasers, and also eating “Revels”–those vanilla ice-cream things with a choc. coating on a stick? So I forget precisely, but for me, it was either too much dairy or too much fat/transfat. When I stopped eating those things, the pores stopped spreading. I also recommend glycolic acid (8-10%) to shrink those pores, or even better, beta glycoholic acid from Paula’s Choice (online), she makes great stuff, and most reasonable.
Best of luck, you can beat this. First, think about what you’re eating NOW that you hadn’t before? Also, smoking is very hard on pores.
