How Do You Answer This Question? Hot Conversation

For some reason I’ve been taking more personality tests lately.  Sometimes it’s just for fun.  Sometimes it’s part of an assessment test in a job application.

I absolutely hate the question ‘What is your favorite color?’

How do you answer that?  My favorite color for my hair is blonde.  My favorite color to paint my house changes but it would never be purple.  But I LOVE the color purple, just not for my hair or the exterior of my house.

If I’m going to buy a dress to attend a wedding, I’m not going to buy something white. But I actually Love white in the right places.

If I’m going to paint the walls inside my house, I would never paint them black.  But I love to wear black clothes (it looks better on me than orange).  But orange is a lovely color for flowers.  Black would be awful.

My car is navy blue and most of my nail polish is a shade of pink.  I wouldn’t want to switch them.

So how on earth do you answer the question

‘What is your favorite color?’  or, for our Canadian friends, ‘What is your favourite colour?’

That would work except for the fact that most of the time this question is asked in written form. Then they list several colors to choose from but they are the colors found in the 8 crayon set of Crayolas.  Taupe is not a choice.  There is no place for ‘other’. :(

    LOL

I understand your feeling about this question…I am an artist…how should I choose what color I like best? SO I have adopted an answer for all who want to know my favorite color. I tell them I love the color of the rainbow…usually shuts them up and get my point across.

Good question and you are right it depends on what the colour is for. I love all autumn colours but I love purple/lilac/mauve but do not wear a lot of it although my favorite gem is amethyst.

I guess I would think with regard to the obvious wide range of colors, not which looks best on a wall or a dress, but which color makes me feel the happiest whenI see it.  Yellow, without a doubt.

Oh that’s so true, haha. Reminds me of buying paint. How many shades of white…billions! And then there ‘s the name of paint.

Ford had car paint called, Anti-Establish Mint, Good Clean Fawn….

Never seen Yellow snow, or Blue balls. But the names they have to make up are amazing.

You are right you can’t answer this question..

Funny!   But, true….I never looked at it that way…my favorite color is turquoise and I would probably like it on my house , wall, clothes, car , flowers even nail polish….but never on my hair! ha!

The way I’d answer a question like that in an interview would be to say “My favorite color at this moment is _______.”

I love earth colors.  I always say my favorite color is brown.  People wrinkle their noses at that.  But I love the warmth of browns.  In the garden (I’m a gardener, I love cool colors…pinks and purples.
