Favorite seed catalogs? Hot Conversation

I can’t wait for spring! My Burpee seed catalog arrived so I’m planning my garden while I wait for warmer, greener days. What’s your favorite seed catalog? I need to order more!

Here are some of my favorites:

Johhny’s Seeds. This is the all-time most reliable source for all kinds of vegetable and flower seeds, including organic seeds and pelleted seeds (which make it a lot easier to grow some lettuces, carrots, etc.).Look for the yellow “highlights” they use to show the seeds that are the most reliable and easiest to cultivate. They are the best.

Another catalog that is fun to look at for organic seeds is Seeds of Change

And another reliable source is Select Seeds for a broad variety of heirloom seeds.

I love two great operations that preserve and sell heirloom seeds:

The first is Seed Savers Exchange, great source of seeds you can’t find elsewhere.
If you live in the South (like I do), a regional version is Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, which is a tremendous resource for heat-loving vegetables like lima beans, tomatoes, okra, beans, melons, and more.

These are the catalogs I order from most often, but I’m dying to hear from others what they use and love. Thanks for a great question!

    Gabrielle

Tomato Growers Supply Company at 12165 Metro Parkway, Ft. Myers Florida 33912 Phone 239-768-1119 is the best ever. I do not like to pay the prices of “picked green” tomatoes at the store when I can grow vine ripe right on the patio or in the garden. Taste is where it is at.

I totally agree! They are so helpful when called upon for information. I like it as they also have seeds for Toms that will grow well in this Florida heat and not split wide open.

Kitazawa Seed Company has to be my absolute favorite!  Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, this company began distributing Japanese vegetable seeds 92 years ago.  They have evolved to offer more than 300 varieties of seeds from China, Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, India, and the United States.  Each item has an informative paragraph, plus there are some fantastic recipies included.  Their seeds are high quality and their service is great.  I would love to hear what other gardeners think about this resource.
