I was in my 30s before I opened my eyes to the world of backyard birds. Knowing them by name, song and quirks has broadened my whole world. Take time to watch the birds…you won’t regret it!

Backyard birds, robins, cardinals, crows, sparrows…good for calm down…TRACK
yes…I have that moment of calm from my bathroom window each morning
You can listen to them too if you tune in to “Birdnote”. It is a short 5 minute radio show on National Public Radio. They give bird information and play bird calls every day. You can sign-up for an e-mail telling you in advance which birds they will be featuring each day of the week. Check out birdnote.org.
Have two bird feeders out back and every morning I sit an watch the birds come for breakfast and I eat mine. It’s my quiet time before my day starts. Morning doves are my favorite.
I think that they are called Mourning Doves. They are among my faves too. Their songs are similar to someone in mourning.
What a lovely way to start the day!
Sorry your right it is mourning doves.
We are blessed to live on a lake and enjoy the backyard birds as well as pelicans, Great Blue Heron, Canadian Geese, various ducks and yes even the cormorants on our lake. Keep your eyes and ears open and you’ll spot a hummingbird now & then too. I always say my blood pressure goes down 10 points just communing with nature. Find your place to enjoy nature and take an instant vacation for your physical and spiritual health. You deserve it~!
