Does Elton John have what it takes to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol? I haven’t watched this show in years, but I always tune in for the season finale.
Where has Sir Elton been these past several years? I used to be a big fan.

aawwww… I’ll never forget the first time on saw him on TV. I couldn’t believe my eyes (with the big glasses & everything). He was just this totally unique person. So, last week I was driving home from work and heard “Sweet Painted Lady” on the radio and thought I gotta have that album again.
Elton John won’t be able to replace the dynamic that Simon Cowell contributes because he won’t be so painfully critical. I like Simon Cowell and he is usually right on in his opinion but extremely toxic in his delivery. But being that Elton is a amazing musician, knows how to write songs that speak to us and arranges them in such a way that they are beautiful to listen to and pumps out mega hit after mega hit – this is the dynamic Elton will lend to American Idol contestants. The contestants will leave their weekly judging session probably feeling that they just advanced in their ability to perform rather than being made to feel less than good and walking away going “huh”!!!!???

True. I usually agree with Simon but sometimes he is just so mean. I heard they’re kicking alotta celebs around for his job (Madonna being one of them – Yikes). It really will change things though. I don’t know if the show will really have the same pull with him gone. I think Elton John would be a great choice.

These kids need constructive critisism and simon was the one to do that. But your right , his delivery could be a bit nicer. Yet when I see some of these kids sing, I just wonder why some parents would encourage them, knowing fully well they are tone deaf and will never be a singer.
Whats up with that? Why not encourage your child to do something that you know they are good at, or least have a chance of succeeding at.At least simon cal is usually honest, and doesn’t lead them into thinking they can do something, when it is obvious that they can’t. Why set them up for a fall like that.Some of these kids are so sensative, and that could have a lasting impact on them,by affecting their confidence.
My 20 year old daughter and I have running joke, she says she’s going to try out when then come back NY and I always Oh yeah…cuz you can sang!!

i just heard Elton John in some sort of a grammy show. I think he was singing with Lady Gaga. He still has it! I love to hear his music. I do not know if anybody can be as rude as Simon.
