Opera Not Dead

It made my heart so happy to see a little girl from Pittsburgh, PA., take the nation on America Got Talent. She sang Puccini’s “O Mio Babbino Cara” Susan Boyle is another opera singer. I hope this trend continues!

I wholeheartedly second your feelings about the classical genre AuntB!   I’ve always loved it from 7 years old when a teacher played Amal and the Night Visitors to the class around the holidays.  LOL  I saved my allowance a dollar at a time in an old throat lozenge tin until I had $7.00 the price of an album at the time.  This album was my first of many purchases of Opera.

I’ve played it through out my children’s lives and am SO proud to say that their favorite DVD’s to watch are not the latest violent sick movie on the market but it’s Phantom of the Opera, Cat’s, Yental, or even the older The Music Man.  I’d far rather see my children enjoying Opera or Musicals and feel more should expose their children to these forms of entertainment, if done perhaps our daily world would not be near as hateful and violent!
