When summer winds down, preparing for Fall, my thoughts turn to knitting. I am addicted to cable knits or any kind (leggings, vests, tunics, scarves, etc). I ruminate lovingly on cold Winter afternoons at grandma’s house, working on knit Christmas projects, or lately, cross-stitch Christmas tree skirts. Does anyone else have this nostalgia moment, too?

Yes, I have started rummaging through my stash looking for something to knit. I like socks on double pointed needles.
Me too. At the moment I’m knitting a pair of very colourful self patterning socks for my daughter and her little girl.
Had enough yarn left over from the pair I knit my daughter to make a pair for my grand daughter.
DD will only wear the socks I knit, she doesn’t like the “store bought” kind anymore.
I also knit slippers and dishcloths but am not brave enough to tackle a sweater yet.
I have tried various times through the years to knit, & although I have completed patterns (the Cabbage Patch doll had a couple of cute sweaters!) I always felt kind of spastic. My mom was a beautiful knitter & growing up I still remember my wonderful sweaters & matching hats. My favourite was a soft peach angora cartigan, oh yum, I wish I had another.
Kudos to knitters! I sew constantly but the machine& ironing board just doesn’t radiate peace & calm like knitting needles & a ball of wool does.
I used to sew a lot of my own clothes. Let’s hear it for home ec, now I don’t really have the space for it and I don’t like all the stuff being kept up in the dining room. Knitting is very portable.
I can’t knit, my mother is a beautiful, knitter. I crochet and quilt. Quiting is my calming meds. I also crochet when I’m watching TV, or should I say when TV is on for the noise, that’s very calming too becuase you do the same stich over and over. Like knitting, crocheting is more for winter, but quilting I do all year, make lots of presents & I sold a few items also, very rewarding!
