Am I the only one who thinks that Ellen seems to be way subdued in her critic’s role on American Idol? Is she intimidated by Simon, Randy, and Kara? She needs to show a bit more of her personality during judging!

Ellen is not living up to my expectations. She doesn’t add a new perspective, she repeats what others are saying and doesn’t use specific enough words as in musical terms that a muscician would really know what she meant. She’s not even funny.
Yes, she’s not even funny! I think that is what we were all waiting for! I am seeing the demise of AI right in front of my eyes. SAD! When Paula left I thought, that’s okay….BUT I would hate to see the end of AI right after Paula left…if you know what I mean.
I agree completely!! I really was hoping she’d bring some levity and lightheartedness to the show. It’s almost like she’s trying too hard to be “the good critic” and losing herself in the process.
I am watching tonight…and I said to my husband that she looks like a “deer in the headlights” and he actually said, “Yeah, is that what is wrong with her”.
PS: He doesn’t even watch. He reads the paper.
I think she is trying too hard to be liked..by everyone..contestants, judges, and audience. She seems to be struggling ..like a fish out of water. Maybe this isn’t her forte’. They need someone that really knows the music business with a “character” that is, a little challenging to the other judges, but yet respected for their knowledge.
I am one who did not miss Paula, but I started watching AI this season and am just bored by it, so have stopped. I’ve only seen Ellen a couple of times and agree that she seemed not the same Ellen that we know and love from her TV show. She seems to be using AI as a way to bring new stuff to her talk show, which is great exposure for the show and the contestants, but not exactly what we’ve been accustomed to in judges.
