Can YOU Really Take a Joke about President Obama? Hot Conversation

          President Barack Obama

The son of an African man and European American woman
Right so far?

Upon reading the many threads about President Obama , the negative ones seen to go  on and on, as neither side wants to give up their view .

On a Thread I posted Mr. President Not on My Watch!! about the death threats against our President…if President Obama had been the son of a CAT he would have gotten more sympathy from many on the right.

On a thread regarding the President taking  too many vacations ,,when it was proved his predecessor took nearly three times the amount of days during his Presidency….some said at Least he (President Bush) stayed close to home…

Some would think he was better off at home in Texas since abroad he was not well liked

Matter of fact when he did travel not one shoe but   two shoes were thrown at him!!! (I do not personally agree with throwing shoes at any President)

Although many on the left cheered.

As all  cultures of society there are things that are physical, that lets us know right away something about them as what “group” they personally belong to some call it “race” I say there is one race the human race .

1. I will start with my “group” African American skin tones from the lightest to the darkest, curly hair to extremely curly hair of nappy texture. Straight and in between. Generally broad nose, full lips … (we are very luscious people {:)

2. Latino skin tones from very dark to light… straight hair, dark eyes dark straight hair,

3. Asia skin tone dark to light straight dark hair slanted eyes, full lips – flat broad lips.

4. European Light skin brown blond hair, thin lips. Protruding ears

Thin or long broad nose (depends on what part of Europe)

                  THE JOKE

Someone  mention that someone (of European decent) did not like President Obama’s………………. BIG Ears!!!

Yes he does have big protruding ears……so

This reminds me of the house we once bought and the one thing loved about the old house was the brick chimney fireplace …It was the first thing we demolished when we bought the house…

The one noticeable feature about President Obama that shows his white lineage is his ears….  Like many of his mothers group they are known to have their ears pinned surgically …The Joke is the very thing we don’t like sometimes in others we see among ourselves.

I embrace his hair his eyes his nose his color and his ears, it is not who he is but it is what he is working with like the rest of us in this melting pot of a wonderful country!!!!!!!!!!!  Enjoy the View we are all family...and the blood flows from one to the next…

These bodies we have are just like any form of transportation, the real person is inside when will we learn to lighten-up and love all of us ….Fayette

Hi, just my opinion, but based on my personal knowledge….I am from European, northern Asian decent (Asia is a large place)  Father is from upper Siberia and Mother from lower Russia, the Ukrain. They both grew up in China, but are not Chinese. I neither have protruding ears (no one does in my family) or thin lips. Our lips are thicker on the bottom ( think, pout) and normal on the top, some small some large or wide…..My ears have larger lobes but are flat to my head. I have family with tiny ears.  No one has had their ears surgically pinned or have the need to.  I am blond, but other hair colors in my family are red, brown, and black. My eyes are blue-green, but my brother’s are dark brown (we always, as kids, told him he was adopted,;))  Our noses range from larger (like my dad’s) to small and short (like my Mom’s)  We are fair and freckled  or dark naturally tanned.   My point here, is that no one , looks the same from the so-called European decent either.

I have to agree with you G-ma. Although I am ‘Latina’ through and through–Cuba, Canary Islands, I have blue eyes and [had] dark brown hair. My family is by and large medium to fair skin and about 30% blue or green eyes. There are many fair haired/fair skinned/ light eyed ‘Latinos’ (the strong Spanish influence), and many, especially Caribbean Latinos have curly hair (the strong African influence). The straight hair tends to be more among the indigenous populations of South and Central America.

Olga what is through and through ? Is medium to light better than light to dark? what is the issue here Does COLOR REALLY MATTER> ( NYAU)

This post or “joke” is not about defending ones  origin it is about we are people and in each group we have varying degrees of difference…what does it matter when your light or medium Latino people return to the dirt we are all the same so why not we get more concern about the inside than the outside that is the JOKE

Through and through had nothing to do with skin color. Just meant that neither of my parents or their parents and grandparents (that’s as far as I personally am aware of the history) fit into your other groups. Iwasn’t defending any origin, but rather, pointing out that even identified ‘groups’ do not have fixed characteristics–which I think is in line with what your intent was: that we are all the human race; THAT is the ONLY common denominator we ALL have in common.

As for the JOKE, sorry I’m so dense, but I didn’t get it.

No that was not my line of intent..but trust me look back in history even to this day Africans and African Americans have been associated with certain looks that do not fit all of us but then again every “group” have a” look” that identify them as a whole….the one thing we as African Americans have as a look is our curly kinky hair of which most of us through pressing or perm change that look ..but their are many of us who have straight or silky hair but still the one thing that gives our group that distinction is our hair… We are all of the human race but we do not all act humane toward each other as we and President Barack Obama has has more of his share of inhuman descriptions from a monkey to Hitler!! he is not an animal or a mass murder....and as Lady Dallas the joke is on us.

Precisely!  Fay, I agree with you, we need to look beyond this encasement of ours we call the flesh, whether we love how we look or not, for all these will fade away and rot back to dust in time.  The The essence of the person or the very spirit movinf in the individual, the legacy of kindness, charity, and love are most important and these make us individuals.

Many women had a crush on Prez O, especially when he was up and about campaigning, and I don;t blame them.  He didn’t look presidential to me, more like an image from a GQ cover, but he spoke brilliantly and very presidential.  I find him a far cry from his predecessor, he is very articulate, intelligible, intelligent, from the ranks and knew what it is like to be an ordinary folk with all the deprivations, e,g., lack of access to the powers that be and those that could influence success from failure.

His health care is a major triumph, far from perfect, with all the opposition from the Rs, but got it nevertheless.  The future could always improve it.  Setting up a health care system to include those without the wherewithals to afford private health insurances is a major success.  The civic-minded daughter of Georgie was praising it and recognizing it as a necessity to provide medical access to the least in society.

I think Prez O, has been trying hard to get changes done.

Thanks toughcookie. I have so many stories in my life the first 40 years was spent serving , caring and yes sharing with white people …I know there are great people as in any group but the one downfall is that too many are not aware of the ills of racism and how it affects all our lives and this President is having the hardest time you bet because he is AA  if any white person running had the intellect and the ZEN presence of President Obama …he would have won hands down…but Obama was the best choice next to Hillary… but Bill Clinton ? Some thought he would have been her downfall.

A mess that was left behind will not be cleaned up as easy as we all would like but I believe he is trying despite….

I am media mexicana and yes, I am very light.  You’re right and there’s a misconception that everyone Latino is dark.  The de la Garzas were light skinned, many blue or green eyes and some brown as well, tall and slender, a lot of auburn hair or light brown hair.  My eyes are light brown, and skin is ivory.  And, just for the record, I think some of the most beautiful children I see are the products of mixed marriages.  Let us give future generations the best from every race and people ….that’s what I’m hoping for.

There is no misconception about light skin in any group and Iam not going to share how many light skin people in my family becasue it does not matter ..they are people and the shade of their skin is not important…where it counts the most.

You know if we all study the history around the world the darker of every group is on the “lower’ scale because of prejudice …I am not concern about the light or the darkness of your skin too many Mexicans suffer from the same thing African American suffer from at one time being ashame of there heritage…be grateful for your skin be it light or dark for the value in it is not in the hue .

I  have one grandson who has ear slightly like President Obama he is also much lighter than his sister who ears are not like his …we are all a mixed people I dare to say anyone is of a pure origin but as an African American we have been drawn into a few features that do not fit all of us…so I was generally using the over all view of mankind …I get a little upset when I hear a person from Chile get offended if some one mistaken them with someone from Mexico.Just the way I get upset if someone African American get upset if someone mistaken them for a Haitian…The whole joke of the matter is what is our outside and  will dissolve down to dust and who will be able to the tell difference in the end? In other words  we are connected.

Oh, that’s great. I’m half Portuguese but the other half is Irish, Scot, English, French, and an assortment of the Baltics. My mom looks Portuguese (since she is) but the rest of us are hilarious! Talk about mixed bag. My son had HUGE ears when he was a baby and I was terrified. He’s not 6’5″ and has completely grown into those ears. In fact, they now look small. My favorite think about being American is that we’re all mixed up. We bring so much to this country with our ancestry.

My favorite thing about him is his brain. He’s smart, he thinks fast, and he is really articulate. All that shows in his face. He looks bright, engaged, clear. He seems at ease, comfortable — and to genuinely like people. I’m going to skip the obvious comparisons to his predecessor and just say that looking at Barack Obama, as an old white woman, I can honestly say that I see someone who is fiercely attractive as a man. His wife is also just plain beautiful. Calm, confident, bright, self-aware, and driven.

But as in all cases, when people suddenly have “money”, they spend it like everyone else who has money.  Vacations too. I know I don’t have expensive vacations and my education wasn’t given to me or my children.  I have bills to show for them.   I don’t see Obama as one of us simply because who is US?  We are a conglomeration of the widest spectrum from rich to poor and all the variations in between.  We are all colors and shapes, including ears.  We are every intellect from genius to vegetable.  We are all living daily with the wonders and the disappointments that we are fortunate to experience in this wonderful country of ours.

It takes all kinds to make this country of ours great. I’m not pointing to any one group of people because it is not collective.  EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE SAY.  No one can speak 100% for me. We can choose to be part of the rabble, or be part of the solution.  We can question everything that doesn’t seem right and quit making excuses for a situation that is not working out well.  I changed my opinion about Bush when I saw things that I didn’t like.  I didn’t make excuses for bad behavior.  He is accountable for everything he does.  Like it or not, in that respect, he is part of “US”.  The “REGULAR” person I see in the mirror is not the same one anyone else sees.

Thanks for that last statement, Fay. People are people. Regular or not. Neither myself nor anyone in my family has ever been considered rich, but I HATE the rhetoric against ‘the rich’. THAT is my biggest issue with Mr. Obama. He divides us as a nation by classifying groups and talking about ‘fair share’. Having heard that rhetoric before from oppressive governments, it scares me very much.

I listen to my gut–and I fear his politics. I cannot NOT fear his politics, as I have lived them before–yes, to extreme, but the basic philosophy is the same: government control and redistribution of wealth (fair share).  What ends up happening is everyone is equally miserable, except those in power. They continue to jetset, have lavish parties, have lavish weddings, etc. while saying they ‘care’ for the poor.

There is nothing wrong with helping people, it’s the pitting of one class against another that bothers me–it is a tactic used to gain power. We are ALL Americans, rich or poor. There are bad rich people and there are good rich people, just as there are good and bad poor people. A president is supposed to look out for ALL Americans.

Frankly, I prefer to look out for myself. Saying that someone needs to ‘look out’ for me is very condescending and implies that I am somehow less able, than the government who knows best.

I still think Jimmy Carter and, more lately GWB (“silver spoon”, or not), seemed to relate better to “regular” people than any other in my history.  They both appeared to be comfortable around us regular folk and seemed much more like someone I could invite into my (very) humble home for coffee.

GWB, having been through “issues” in his past, strikes me as someone I could be comfortable with, even on a more personal level.  I would, though, have to be careful not to correct his grammar!

Oh God, let’s not go there….

My mom’s family is all white as my grandfather was blonde w/blue eyes Spanish descent.  He married a “white” Rican criolla woman.  So all the Ortiz are basically white people.  Then my mother went and married a mulatto man who, listen to this, was a descendant of a Spaniard slave owner who fell in love with his slave.  I did not know any of this until just 3 or so years ago.  I never had a relationship w/my father, i grew up with the Ortiz… in family pictures i am always thought of being my sister in law’s sister since she is ”tan”.  Her dad don Pancho was a Spaniard w/blue eyes and her mother dna. Carmen is a Taino indian, two wonderful people.  COLOR has nothing to do with anything.  Today i went to lunch w/a lady that mentioned that she had to come to the Miami Dade campus in Opalocka a mostly black neighborhood.  We work around there so the subject came up.  They had to pick up a book from a person on Craig’s list and she did not know if the person was black, white or a mixture of anything.  However, due to the black neighborhood she said to me “last nite i was here and was thinking, what if is a black man ready to kill us”.  I said isn’t it something.  MOST SERIAL KILLERS ARE WHITE.  I think one was Black, the Williams guy who killed the Atlanta black kids, and to this day i think he did not do it.  So it is perception more than anything else.  About Obama?  Power is sexy, i do not consider him a gorgeous man although i love his body shape.  But i think he is sexy.  And he can dance.  Intelligence, charisma, and a dancer?  Move away Michelle, here i come.  Yeah right.

Usually the inside shines through the pretty outer wrapping so it’s easy to pick out the stinkers. I hate generalized “jokes” about politicians and celebrities based on conjecture and pure bias. So much of the Obama hate emails that circulate are deeply rooted in misinformation and prejudice. Hooray for the delete button. I am disappointed in some of his work thus far but only the content of his effort and not the effort itself. His failures have not made me hate him. This is an interesting thread. I’ve enjoyed reading everyones explanations of their physical features, their histories, etc. Very enlightening, very telling.

As far as the “joke” though……..I’m still waiting for a punchline.??????

I’m still not reading any humor here. My sense of humor is more like Debbie Ds I guess.

Must be my Irish history. Short. Fair skinned. Tend to freckle. Hazel eyed.

Fayette, I don’t understand your obsession with BO?  I really don’t understand what you are saying in the above post either.  I was looking for the joke…was it about his protruding ears?  I would never make fun of anyone who has physical imperfections because we all do.  I feel almost like you are trying to cram BO down our throats.  Personally, I did not vote for him, but am wishing him the best.  I do not like fact that he came out in  support of the Mosque being built at ground zero while he was hosting a Ramadan Celebration at the White House at 2 minutes after midnight on a friday night.  II feel like by supporting the mosque, he is dividing this country even further and that is not a smart idea.  We all know this country was founded on freedom of religion, so he should not have come out on any side.  I didn’t agree with his handling of the gulf oil spill either.   As far as his wife Michelle is concerned, she got on my bad side when she said during the elections “for the first time I am proud to be an american”.  Why was that?  Just because BO was running for President?  And her expensive trip to Spain while so many here in this country are out of jobs, the recession is hurting everybody.  She is surely out of touch with the Anerican people.

Just my opinion and like everybody else I have one.

I am not obsessed with PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA.. But I do believe some are obsessed with making  everything he does and issue…like the days of vacation, talking to kids at school,

The way he talks , ,,,and more As far as Michelle you would have to be an African American or a compassionate person of to understand what she meant and it says a lot about the racial divide!!!!  Until you have walked in Michelle shoes( or tried to see how they might fit” you do not know what she has had to endure in her  … beautiful dark skin..which is a “side bar story of its own in this country.”….Someone did make fun of his ears..but what haven’t they made fond of with this President?….She did not say it because he was running she was saying it because so many White American were accepting his ability to be president as a Black man…I know yo know the history of this country and it is not a pretty one on how the Black man was and still is in many cases treated where have you ever seen men  having to march with signs saying I AM A MAN …Michell had the right to say how she felt..and plenty reasons.

Morning FayetteSIPP. I’m about as white as can be without being albino, and I understood what she meant and why she said it. I don’t think many people even tried to understand the experience behind her words or their intent. In fact, I’ll bet the farm that a majority of those denouncing that statement didn’t listen to her whole spiel, but only that sound bite. Just found another reason to jump on her, and by extension, him.

I don’t understand how anyone can not understand her statement unless they have not been in this country but a few minutes and never read a history book, a newspaper  or saw the news? Things are much better in many ways but thee are days i am not proud of the human race much alone America!!! There are days I am not proud of my State, my City , my SELF….what so hard about that?

You know I didn’t Hate PRESIDENT BUSH …but I didn’t like many things he did or allowed others to do..But i always thought  Laure Bush was a nice person and a good first lady no matter what was in her past…so why can’t Michelle have the same respect she surly has the background to deserve it…

Not obsessed with PRESIDENT BARAK OBAMA?  Were the capital letters turned on by accident as you were typing?

BTW, this green-eyed, white/gray haired British Isle mongrel with an adopted half-black son (with nappy light brown hair, a broad nose and green eyes!) doesn’t understand the joke either!

So you see I did what you did…only I gave him the respect to spell out his name …don’t you think  TL that you are being a bit critical to a fault…being that you use all capt?

As far as the joke …some you get some you don’t and it is OK,

Some people use initials, some don’t. It’s a personal choice. You referred to Thurman Lady as TL while implying that she was wrong to use initials. If you consider spelling it out as a sign of respect, then did you mean to disrespect Thurman Lady? Or are you saying the president deserves more respect than TL? I don’t respect him any differently than any oher citizen. Our constitution says all are created equal. We don’t have royalty in the US. I for one will continue to use initials because it works for me. I use them across the board and seldom differentiate, unless I think someone may not know whom I am referring to otherwise. Its not some great psychological ploy, its a typing preference Your choice to spell out and cap is no more/no less valid than someone else’s choice to abbreviate.

Dallas L.  What ever you chose is fine with me…my reasons are my reasons. I choose to give him his title and his given name out of respect…(that is me) I have heard so many reference to this president not being called by his name or his title …free country, Now did you ask her why she accused me of being obsessed? I have used cap. on  a number  of things …for me to bring attention to what I am saying and as for me the attention is he is still the President of the United States and like it or not …we cannot go where he goes or do what he does. It come with the job and title….when he is out of the job anyone who qualify will have the same privileges, no he is not royalty to you but he is the closet thing to it symbolically to this country for he is THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES…SIMPLE AND PLAIN..

I also use TL as it was short for the post and ..had nothing to do with respect…but since you went there…BO reminds me of Body Oder ..I personally don’t like it.   your tittle is long I started to once you DL for you …but didnt’ like it because it reminds me of the word Down Low and I respect you to much to give you that short name …I use to use DH ..which I thought was for Darling husband …later was told it was fro Di–k Head..so I no longer use it … I try to treat people like I wqnt to be treated and you can say I am respectful of the President but not Obsessed

I didn’t ask her why she asked you that because a) I actually kind of agree with her and understand why ahe said it and b) you’d already addressed it and denied it, so nothing of matter would have come from me inserting myself. I don’t care to be addressed as DL, I wouldn’t have thought twice about it, those are my (VN) initials!

I really didn’t expect that of you..being the obsession works in the reverse..if someone says something good about the President , there are those who drop in to get their points of negativity, ..and that is fine , I don’t have to deny anything I am not on trial or am I ? …. I have no obsessions with any man not even my husband and he would be the one if any… and like I said I don’t like DL because that is what is used for Down Low , as I don’t use DH anymore… Someone new to the blog like I was and thought it was a term of endearment..instead it was a disrespectful term (for me anyway) .

BUt if I had a choice to be obsessed with any one The President would be a good choice

Just to make this even more interesting, I actually was not the person who said “Fayette, I don’t understand your obsession with BO?“  That was tj.  I just pointed out that you used all caps, which appeared to me to agree with tj’s opinion.

BTW, I tend to use the title of President because I respect the office, whether I happen to respect the officeholder or not.

As far as being called TL, I find it endearing.  It’s like having a pet name!

I’m glad you like it TJ  and no disrespect T J is no offense to me and if you are OK with the that is good… my point is to respect each other even when we disagree. I use cap from time to time does that mean obsession?

Oh Boy…!  Wooooooooooo finally out of Irak.  Thank you Lord!

    1) Michelle said what she said because for once this country was united for this President (well maybe 2 other times, JFK, Clinton) and he happened to be black and that NEVER happened before.  We as The People had evolved, finally!.  I for one, in my lifetime, never saw the abundance of support from the citizens of this country as when President Obama was elected.

    2) I do notice that when something pleasant is said about this President “the few” jump in to contradict it.  The same people, all the time.  Some members of this site have privately told me that they do not say anything nice because those few gang on you like flies on crap.  Some even say this President is not an American, although he has proven it time and time again.  Like he said recently on TV “i cannot carry my birth certificate on my forehead for those that doubt me” and i would add – they will still not believe you anyway.

    3) As for the Mosque, he attended to the LAW of this country and freedom of religion, he did not give his personal opinion because that is not what the Presidency is all about.  Some family members of those who died on 911 also gave the same exact opinion.  Since this issue is so hot for many of us, a compromise should be negotiated among those involved, but that also may be announed at a later date.  Do not ASS/U/ME.

    4)  Michelle’s vacation.  What is the beef?  She is supposed to lock herself up with her daughters for 4 years?  I am an American and i have taken, like i said, 2 vacations.  We took our kids to Universal Studios and Island of Adventure.  The place was packed and hot.  Imagine Michelle in Universal Studios….???  The whole place would of been closed just for them.  Because this country’s economy is bad we are all supposed to hibernate?  They have 2 small children who were off from school.  These kids cannot go anywhere w/o secret service and others.  They did not make the rules.  It is what it is.  Get over it.  Other Presidents wives have taken similar vacations, why rip this woman apart?  She is not poor anymore.  She has the right to travel and with young daughters as a mom she has the right to show them the world.  Spain this year, Botswana next year.  That is what life is all about.

    5) Once a person has money they forget about their upbringing?  Hell no!  I can tell u that from experience.  I am not rich by any means, but i am comfortable, thank God and the company i work for, but i remember every bit of my upbringing, the ups and downs, the lacks of and the happiness when we had more than we were used to.  That is why i try to be generous w/those that have nothing.  Because i have been blessed.

This is the President we have now.  Let’s unite for the better of the country.  That is the reason why i am an independent.  I am for the USA, political parties make us take sides even when those sides are not right.

I don’t get “THE JOKE”.  Just a post about racial differences.  So what’s new?  I’m white, you’re black, she is yellow, he is red…????? I know that, in this country, black people still feel oppressed and I don’t pretend to understand.  As the saying goes “walk a mile in my shoes…”.  I voted for President Obama and I think he is doing the best job that he can do under the circumstances.  I voted for him because I thought he was the best candidate, didn’t care if his skin was black, white or polka dot!  However, I know of black people who voted for him simply because he is black and white people who didn’t vote for him because he is black….

You sound like a down to earth, pragmatic, no nonsense, call them like you see them woman.  I like that~!  And as far as your last sentence:  if someone voted for BO strictly on the basis of race. then in my book they are as racist as the ones who didn’t vote for him strictly on the basis of race.  Dont see much difference there, that knife cuts both ways.

You know what really is call it like you see it?…There  is a long line of only White Men who have graced, shamed and scammed the American people in the White House  based on one group of people who were not allowed to come thru front doors or eat a the same table or in the same building…the whole feeling of being incarcerated in a country with a Chain  tied to your soul , that when the chain is loosen, like the elephant you still do not know freedom ….some things are mental and the mental image of a Black man in the white house make some people sick… and to some the image of a Black man in the white house gives future generations hope and for that reason YES many voted for him because he was Black , because they knew that was the chance of a life time for them to show their children not just any Blck man bur an intelligent Black man and a beautiful intelligent Black woman by his side the visual for African American children is Priceless.. and for that reason alone I personally don’t care what people think is racist or is not …many don’t know what racist is anyway. I voted  for him first because he was qualified and second because he was Black and it was about time to see a new face in the place where we are a melting pot but the one spot where the” pot” stayed one color has now changed

Believe me, Dallas the knife you talk about is an illusion one side is much duller!!!

I’m glad you aren’t obsessed. Thank you fir your history lesson. I’m perfectly well aware of all you posted . My compliments to Aznikki were fully focused in this century and this decade. You will never feel the wrongs experienced by your race will be righted and understandably so. No question. This void is enduring and will never subside

None of that negates that racism on all sides still exists in America today in 2010 and is not wholly owned by any one race, but within individuals of all races Its just not politically correct to point it out but it is ongoing

Thank you very much Dallas Lady.   I do try to be as objective as possible, I know I miss the mark more times than I’d like….. Fayette, sorry but I don’t agree about the idealistic reason Blacks voted for President Obama! Also to say that they wanted to show their children an intelligent black man and a beautiful intelligent black woman is slightly derogatory to a race where there are many intelligent and beautiful men and women!

Aznikka…being objectiveve an not knowing from where you speak is two different things.  I could not tell you why White people on the most part voted for Obama…but I do know why AA did ,,,I worked the headquarter in Texas Did a year of talk radio during the elections  largely AA audience..That is just the point we have been  kept out and you know about the glass ceiling …but you know it is what it is …and what goes around comes around..and until you are in my position  as a Black American and in a position to talk to many Blacks,as many  Americans only have that one friend they are proud of …and that’s a far as they understand…We know there are many intelligent Black women and men and beautiful too..but WHO  for the last 50 years . graced the TV and advertisement…I could write so many stories from my personal life ..but that is not the point I am not trying to convince anyone that Racism is  prejudice controlled by power and we know who owns that power…please there is a derogatory situation and it is not with us  You don’t have to agree I know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I have 60 years of Black Experience….the first Essay award allowed for African American to participate in when I was fifteen I won the essay of course that year they did not name the winners  One AA (me) and two WA..yes we were intelligent back then too…  We have been voting for White Presidents for as long as we have been allowed to vote…….I wish  Every person who have a problem with Obama would just get over it until it is time to vote again …but YES WE DID and it meant the world to many children of color no matter what any one else who has been privileged all their lives think!!
