All right!  3 is a good start! :)   So now, how would you like to proceed?  Anyone have a book they would like us to start with?  Do we want to discuss by chapter or when the whole book is finished?  This is super new to me, so not sure what to do but I love to read good books and would love to discuss with others who enjoy too.  Let’s go for it!  I’ve heard ‘Chasing Fireflys’ is good by Charles Martin but I’m open to anything except explicit sex & violence.  Would perfer books that at least make you think a little! :)

I would love to join.  I have never been in a book club; therefore, I do not have any great suggestions on how to run the sessions. I too prefer books that are thought provoking.  Looking forward to starting.

I’m new to Vibrant Nation and new to book clubs, but that’s part of my New Year…..new things!  I’d love to see how this works and join in.  Chasing Fireflies looks like a good one!

I was an honorary member of a book club, for the faculty and staff at FRCC,  community college called Beers and Books we met for discussions at a pub.  We read every other month fiction and non-fiction this was mid 90′s. It was uncanny how many books we picked, became movies. One was already a movie   “Like Water for Chocolate” All the Pretty Horses, The Shipping news. Cold Mountain.  And the Journals of Louis and Clark, to name a few. book clubs Rock…I’m in.

While waiting on the group read,

We could all share a tid bit about the last book we’ve read.

Ok I’ll go first. I got this book for my birthday, from my friend Jeannie, one time Chair of the English Dept. at FRCC,

      The Animal Dialogues

      Uncommon Encounters in the Wild

      by Craig Childs

This book has short stories on different animals he has encountered. He is a wealth of real information, and transports the reader in the first sentence of each, my toes got wet in the marsh, and my throat was parched by the dessert heat. I liked it, as always it was a quick read.

Ok whose turn is next…See this is already fun, I’ll keep thread for updates on official site.

I paint watercolor miniatures,  bob Ross landscapes on postcards, and my specialty,  bookmarks. I give them away random. I hate selling even when I’m poor, I have ten to give away right now to the first ten to post a book tid-bit, if it is not to forward of me.  I will send them with the postage to our awesome host, who could send them on to our awesome Vibrant Nation bookclub members. How cool is that?

Okay, unless someone has a better idea, this is what I’ve come up with.  Let’s start with “Chasing Fireflies” by Charles Martin.  Since today is Friday, I will try and get the book tomorrow at my library – you all do the same or if you want to buy/Kindle – do so.  Once I get the book and see how long a chapter is, I’ll post a new thread with the title of “Chasing Fireflies”.  Depending on chapter length, we’ll set how many chapters to read each week (say, evey Monday?) and then “chat” weekly on the new thread about the assigned chapters.  Sound good?  I’m excited!  Hope you all are too! :)

A book club is a great idea–and I would love to DONATE six copies of one of my novels (PUPEPT CHILD or CHINA DOLL)–whichever title you decide to read. The genre is “Heart-wrenching suspense,” novels with social issues behind them. You can check my website for descriptions of the book and the rave reviews.

Will it be okay if I ask only for the shipping cost?

If you all decide to read one of my novels, please e-mail me your snail mail address via my website, http://www.TaliaCarner.com so I can send you the books.

    Best,

    Talia
