Bob Cratchit’s Christmas: A holiday menu

One December I invited a groups of friends over for “Bob Cratchit’s Christmas.” If you recall, Bob was clerk to Ebenezer Scrooge and father to Tiny Tim in Charles Dickens’ classic holiday tale, A Christmas Carol. The C’s were rather poor, from Bob being so underpaid by Scrooge, so I kind of had to help it out a little.

Warm up: a toddy of mulled lemonade spiked generously with gin.

Main course:
- Stuffed roast goose (plus a small turkey, you can’t really feed 14 people on one little goose. Bob only had 8 mouths to feed!)

- Roast winter veggies (potatoes, turnips, carrots, onions) and a side dish of green beans

- Condiments (gravy, cinnamon spiced apples, brandied peaches, bread and butter pickles)

Dessert: Pudding, of course. I didn’t make mine from scratch, but I did pour the brandy and torch it myself!

Other: Wine, coffee, chocolates

Enjoy!
