my bio

51 year old executive in a large, not for profit.   I have worked there for 16 years and climbed the corporate ladder here from middle management to the C-Suite.

Mother of a 17 year old son, his dad & I are divorced but have shared and raised him equally

Remarried 4 years ago to a great guy who is close enough to heaven for me

my VN interview

  • How did you get to where you are now?

I grew up in a trailer in South Georgia.  My work experience as a teenager was babysitting and picking cotton & pecans.

I did go to a small state college.  And then I started my career at the bottom as a entry level clerical worker.

I worked hard and climbed the ladder one rung at a time.  Did I mention I worked hard -- very hard?  I worked harder than most.  I'm smart--but not smarter.  I'm just more determined and worked at it more.  When people play victim and moan about how the deck has been stacked against them, I just shake my head.  I have found that is too often an excuse from people who don't want it badly enough to change their bad choices and destructive patterns.

  • How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?

I'm stronger, more confident.  I have more faith in my survival skills.  I know I'm a problem solver, and I know that I won't let little things get in my way or stop me.

  • Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Retired....I hope.  Living in the southeast, amidst pine trees and hills.

a postcard to my younger self

You are so much better than him.

my role models

None really.  I've always been self contained.
