my bio

Author of Fifty&Fabulous,The Best Years of a Woman's Life ~~ www.fiftyfab.com

Inventor of www.snapanswers.com

Founder of FPS Consulting www.fpsconsulting.com

My work has always been about the development of human potential For 30 years I have worked  enabling this development inside Fortune 500 Corporations, Not-For-Profits and the Public Sector across Canada and the US.

The biggest lesson I have taken away from those years is; each stage of life has its own unique energy and the ability to utilize that energy effectively is vital for success and satisfaction.

Shortly after my 50th birthday I overheard peers, at the peak of their wisdom and capability, say they had begun to experience themselves as invisible in the workplace. I was stunned.

To seek answers I turned to women who had always fascinated me... mature women with a sparkle in their eyes. We all know one or some and they are certainly not invisible.

What I discovered behind that sparkle amazed me and now I have shared those findings in Fifty and Fabulous a book about The Best Years of a Woman's Life released in UK Feb.2010 and in New York April 2010.

The book is just the beginning my  message continues with Fifty and Fabulous Fabulation events to be held in major US and Canadian cities starting spring 2010...stay tuned.

my VN interview

  • How did you get to where you are now?

One day at a time. I would like to say it was all a well organized plan or strategy constructed by me but...it was not.

I loved hard, worked hard and when opportunities came my way I like to think I used them well. When problems came my way I did my best to deal with them and keep going.

And now today I am here, a little worn  but more wise, some regrets but a lot of gratitude

  • How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?

Ten years ago I was fiercely independent and I thought I was a risk taker. The about 10 years ago I took a really big risk. Since then I have learned that I  need others as much as they need me. I have also learned that I can fail or succeed and still be the same person in the end.

  • Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

    No idea...well not quite true.

I will still love my children more than anything in the world and maybe they will have produced children for me to love too.

I will still love my husband and I hope he will still love me.

I hope I am still writing and still have something to share that makes other people's lives better

I would like to still be living near the beach or on a mountain somewhere...but I am open to everything else

a postcard to my younger self

OK listen up!

You know those arms you think are too skinny...bare them and love them because one day...they won't be skinny anymore

That sort of advice goes for your tummy and your thighs too.

Night cream...use it , cleanse and tone and stop believing your skin is wrinkle proof because it isn't.

Your mother is right about those elastic bands you are using to hold up your knee socks... they will cause varicose veins.

Your mother is also right about how quickly those amazing children of yours will grow up and about how much you will miss them some day when they are 4000 miles away and too busy to phone.

So hug them, squeeze them and FORGET about the fingerprints on the storm door.

While we are on the topic of love ...love everyone who is "yours" today. Specifically your parents, that you don't have time to call, the smelly dog and the hairballing, up chucking, cats and assorted uncles and aunties and dear friends because one day...they will be gone and your heart will ache some days for their faces and voices and love in your life again
