A survey of over 3,000 Americans shows revealed that vibrators for women are popular among both sexes, and shows a direct link between vibrator use and sexual satisfaction in both couples and singles. The survey, sponsored by Indiana University’s Center for Sexual Health Promotion, found that “Women with positive beliefs who had used vibrators in the past 30 days reported higher levels of arousal, lubrication, orgasm and sexual satisfaction, and lower levels of pain during sex, than those with positive beliefs who hadn’t used the sex toys as recently.

About half of respondents agreed or strongly agreed with positive vibrator use statements. Negative vibrator use statements had very little agreement — less than 10%. Women who had used vibrators in the 30 days just prior to the survey noticed higher levels of arousal, orgasm, sexual satisfaction and lubrication, coupled with lower levels of pain during sex, as opposed to those who reported no recent vibrator use.
And now, some news for women who may be afraid to bring up the subject of vibrator use with their partner: Of the women who participated, 37% believed that vibrators are intimidating to their partners, but 70% of the men who answered disagreed or strongly disagreed with that statement.

A similar vibrator study that focused on sexual partnerships found that sexual satisfaction through vibrator use was highest among women who had partners who approved of their vibrators. The full study was published in the Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy.
